Hello there, wherever there might be for you. For me, today I am here in SoCal taking it fairly easy. Thank the heavens above that the weather has calmed down from the awful heat wave that we experienced last weekend! It's really not at al that bad and actually siding on pleasant. Being that I was in and around home yesterday, my mom had a sweet tooth and asked if I would like to join her on a trip to Cinnaholic. This was to be her first ever visit after hearing me rave about them for years upon years. Going to Cinnaholic was a regular stop for me and the kiddos on each and every trip to the Bay Area. Lucky for her not to mention the rest of the folks here in Orange County (as well as all the rest of the cities that were lucky enough to get a franchise) we no longer have to trek all the way to the Bay Area for some of their oooey goooey goodness! When Cinnaholic in Brea Opened And to my surprise they also offer Fresh Squeezed Lemonade - if you remember this being one of my very favorite drinks. I ordered a Lavender Lemonade...and yes it was quite yummy! We both opted for the Bavarian Cream Frosting with a fresh berry topping. So much sweet goodness and by the way I did split mine with the kids. As for today, there is nothing really too special happening over here and I'm going to keep it mellow. Tomorrow on the other hand, I'm heading to the airport bright and early and going to Flagstaff and then to Page to pick up and rescue a cousin of mine who has spent the last 2 weeks floating around on a houseboat. Once we are together, we'll be carpooling 6 hours up to Salt Lake City and where I'll then be catching a flight and coming back home in my little whirlwind of a Sunday! Whew LOL Alrighty, I'm gonna bail for now and catch ya back here on Tuesday with all the scoop from tomorrow. -Travelin' Tanya | Howdy and Happy Saturday!! It is G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S outside today!! Literally, it is the perfect weather day here on Long Island - clear, crisp, cool and sunny! I was out and about early this morning to run a few errands, one of which was to get bread from The French Workshop on Seventh Street in Garden City. I could literally live on bread and so could my two girls. And so, I need to be careful with how much bread I buy! This visit I bought 2 large baguettes - one plain and one olive. It would appear that today's blog will turn into a foodie one! Beginning last night, Tanya texted me while I was on a 4-mile walk that she and her mom paid a visit to Cinnaholic, out in SoCal. This super cool franchise features create-your-own cinnamon rolls and other sweet treats like made from scratch brownies, cookies, and edible cookie dough, which are ALL fresh-baked and 100% vegan, dairy & lactose-free, egg-free, and cholesterol-free. (Check out Tanya's Scoop to read about her visit). Well, cut to today...after Kelsey received an impromptu invite to her friend's 14th birthday celebration tomorrow, we decided to make a trip to nearby Sweet to Lick, a local vegan bakery in Williston Park, here on Long Island. This is now a regular foodie destination for me and my girls, since we first visited back in November 2014 with Tanya and gang during her visit to New York on Thanksgiving! Everything they make is baked with NO eggs, milk, butter, gelatin, honey or bone char sugar. I checked out their daily menu for today on Instagram to see what our choices would be for cookies and other sweets and it was a unanimous decision that we would get two types of cookies for our party tomorrow..Raspberry Lemonade and Chocolate Chip! Currently, Sweet to Lick is only offering curbside pick up, so we could not go in, but I did manage to snag a photo of the inside bakery case!! YUM!! Here's to a wonderful day and an even better Sunday tomorrow! We'll be back on Monday with a special story about two Dutch brothers whose passion for bird watching led them to start an international travel accommodations booking platform for nature lovers! - Travelin' Elisa xoxo |
