January 25, 2016 - Tanya's Ski Trip to Vail & Breckenridge, Colorado - Day 11

Made it to Vail Baby...Vail!

GREETINGS from Breckenridge, Colorado!

It's already another Monday, and we've now been traveling for 12 days.

Yesterday we finally made it out to Vail!

Vail, not only being the most popular ski resort in the United States, but it also happens to be one of
my very favorites!
​It's also famously world-renowned, and not to mention coveted as one of the largest ski resorts in the world!

Well I totally reconfirmed my fondness of this village/resort, and although we've been having a most wonderful vacation; I have realized that the next time we come back on our ski trip to Colorado - I'm not messing with or changing where we stay. And we will definitely be staying back in Vail and Breckenridge (which was the original plan and just what we've always done). 

So anyhow, our day had started out with us checking out of the Dillon condo, and making our way to Vail.
The kids, Dave B and I were heading to the slopes, while Dave C. was heading to find a good place to watch the NFL playoff game.
*Can you imagine...he watched the game cheering on his Patriots in a sea of diehard Bronco fans! ​

Well not before long, the lovely blue skies and mild weather that we were experiencing, had gone bye-bye and in came the snow.
Yes we defintely got a bit chilly out there, but we still skied until the end. End of the day that is.

Actually on our very last run we had been stopped by a Finnish man who was skiing dressed in a suit and tie! (Not something you see too often out on the slopes.)
He had just come from attending a wedding!! He also explained that he forgot his phone and had asked if we could snap a photo of him and text it to him. 

​Or course this was not a problem, but he had still offered to take us to Apres Ski.
I politely declined and we parted ways.
​However later on I got a text again thanking me for the pics and still offering us Apres Ski.

Instead we caught back up with Dave C. who was totally bummed out that the Patriots lost to the Broncos, and we had all gone out for coffee and then to do a bit of shopping and strolling in the village.

After a while both of the Daves had looked beyond exhausted and it was time to head to dinner.

​Still needing to head to Breck, check in, and put Dave B. to bed.
He is headed back to work again this morning and had another uber early drive to the airport.
We'll see him again on Friday night for his third wkd visit!

As for today, it's quite COLD on the slopes and the kids are pretty darn stoked to be back in Breck. ​

FEELS LIKE 0. And it's even colder on the slopes!

It happens to be Dave C's first time here - so I'm contemplating letting the kids sleep in and to skip the skiing for today...I'll let you know.

But in any case, I know that we'll be heading into town - we really just love this cute little town ​with it's world-class skiing and an authentic mining town, we'll will be more than happy to give Dave C. a tour!

And then later on tonight we've got one of the resort's private theatres reserved for us to sit back, relax and enjoy a movie!

Yeah, I know it's a tough life, but somebody has to lead it.

​First Snow Day of 2016!

​Hey there!!!!  We are still digging out here after being hit with the blizzard of 2016!!

So much snow all around!!  This is what Winter is supposed to be!

Last night, the kids were obsessing as to whether school would be closed today.  The roads were still pretty full of the white stuff yesterday even after the plows came through. As a result, the girls were discussing how there was "no way" for the buses to get around in the morning.

At 7pm, all contemplation stopped...we received an email from the principal of their school saying that they would have a 2-hour delay today.  

I never saw such glum faces.  Such disappointment.  Then, at around 9pm, another email was received telling us that, the superintendent of schools of our district, had made the decision to close school today.

JOY!!! SMILES!!! AND SCREAMS followed in my house!!

I had to admit, I was ecstatic knowing I didn't have to drag myself out of bed this morning to drive these kiddies to school. Moms love snow days too!

Kelsey, actually didn't feel well either.  Sniffly and stuffy, so having the extra day to rest was a bonus. 

Today, while Tanya and gang are skiing it up in Breckenridge, we will be doing some work around the house. Tackling the playroom is my goal.

Gianna is doing some filming for her YouTube channel.  I just love her latest video!! You have to check this out...

Being stuck inside, I was able to find a few fun things I'll be getting on to my calendar during the month of February.

As I had mentioned, this Friday, I'll be heading to both the Louis Armstrong House and the Lewis H. Lattimer ​House, which I'm very excited about.

Both of these museums are right here in the borough of Queeens, in New York City!!

Well, my dear ones, I must get moving here.
