Elisa's Daily ScoopGrand Teton Park - here we are!!Greetings from Jackson Hole, Wyoming!!! Yesterday was really a terrific day - just such a smooth travel day! Beautiful weather; timing was perfect all around! It was a day of airports and flying for Mom and her girls! We had one connection through Denver with a relatively short layover. Our four and a half hour flight from new York's LaGuardia to Denver's international was relatively smooth with intermittent bouts of turbulence. Did I ever mention how much I hate turbulence!! You may remember from my previous posts that delta cancelled my original flight so I was forced to switch my reservation to United. Now while the service and personnel were wonderful, I was really dismayed by a few things: 1) the seats are very small with such tight legroom 2) no tv's - 'nuf said 3) no complimentary snacks - everything was charge only except drinks. 4) Necessary to pay for entertainment Even on our connecting flight- not even a bag of peanuts!! But, I digress. Overall the flights were great and as far as traveling days go, it was one if the better ones At 8:30 we walked off the plane ramp in Jackson Hole to one of the most beautiful landscapes I'd ever seen - the Grand Tetons surrounding towering before us as we walked towards the airport terminal. It was simply breathtaking, even in the dark!! The airport is so tiny, but I will tell you, everything was amazingly convenient. The rental car desks were right there and our customer service representative even drove the car right up to the door for us! I was fortunate enough to get an upgrade to a Black Ford Explorer - the same car I drive at home - even the color is the same!!! Our hotel is absolutely darling - even Kelsey said with wide eyes - "this is the most adorable little town I've ever seen! We are staying in the cutest cabins and only a 3 minute drive to the town of Jackson. Starving, we grabbed a pizza and headed back to our room before we all conked out for a few hours. This morning we were up bright and early and headed to the Park by 6:30 AM - it is so spectacular. We drove and stopped; drove and stopped, drove and stopped and with each stop, we captured the many awesome views before us. I couldn't possibly post all of the great shots we took, but here is a smattering. We all smashed in my car, since it had the third row. The kids had a blast together and me and Tanya were in our glory taking pictures - switching lenses, cameras, turning around - snapping away! Well folks, we did so much this morning and I barely had time to write my daily in time to have it emailed to our followers. So, I will work extra hard to load up my daily for tomorrow with more information and lots more pictures!!! Talk to you later, -E xoxo | Tanya's Daily ScoopIt's a Grand sort of Day!It may have been 2am, but WE FINALLY MADE IT!!! A semi sleepy Greetings to all of you from Jackson, Wyoming! My gang rode over 700 miles from Portland to Jackson yesterday! It was a LONG day on the road, and so far I've driven over 2K miles on this road trip and I'm only on day 6 of 12!!! Wow! I'm like some type of machine! I just keep going and going and going...until my head hits the pillow and then I'm out like a light! And then I sleep like a baby :) Soooo Ladies and Gents this is quite possibly gonna be a Short Sweet Sunday Scoop...unless I make it back in time to write some more! My yesterday in pictures: I get so exited when we see animal sightings and I had two such occasions on yesterdays long drive...We saw a humungous herd of Big Horn Sheep (of course I couldn't stop and therefore have no pictures). I even squeezed in a bonus stop at the Idaho State capitol in Boise! Plus once we were very close to JH we also spotted a few deer while going over the Teton Pass! And as for this morning, we are meeting up with Elisa and the girls for the first time this year! We haven't seen each other since the end of November 2014! We are all heading into Grand Tetons National park on this 2nd day of National Park week!! (I've visited this park a number of times and once was with Dominic on our 2013 National Park Road Trip.) This morning our plan is to catch some epic dawn pictures at Schwabachers Landing and the reflection at sunrise in Jenny Lake, then continue doing some sight seeing, as well as a few short hikes in the park - including but not limited to: String Lake Trail And keeping in mind that we have to be BEAR AWARE! We are armed we Bear Spray and hope that we NEVER have to use it. Read more about my close encounter with a Bear HERE The rest of the day will be spent showing everybody around town! I've gotta go sprinkle on some pixie dust and get on with the show! Catch ya back here tomorrow on our second day in Jackson and readying up for our drive to West Yellowstone! -T And please remember to VOTE for us :) |
