Tough Night with Sick Fur BabyHappy Sunday! Wow - the craziness around here never ends!! and it's not the good kind. I feel like we have been living at the doctor lately!! Between Kelsey's overactive bladder issues, Gianna's cold and stuffed up ear, my stomach virus - we have had enough of doctors for the next few years. But, as if that wasn't enough, yesterday, my belly was starting to feel a bit uneasy. With plans to go to the Queens Night Market for weeks, with my friend Karla, it was like something told me I just shouldn't go. It has taken me a while to really shake the remnants of the virus I had two weeks ago, and moreover, I didn't want to go to a foodie event and be unable to enjoy the food! So, I texted Karla (with whom I had plans to go) and told her I just didn't feel well. I thought, perhaps it was the fact that I barely got any sleep the night before - who knows - but I didn't go. Then, at around 6-ish (we were supposed to have left at 5:30 after dropping off Punkin for an overnight at Jo-Mar), halfway through eating her dinner, my Punkin stopped and began to vomit. I figured it was just a one-time deal, but the poor thing continued getting sick over the course of the next three hours. VIDEO OF PUNKIN SO UNCOMFORTABLE AND STIFF LAST NIGHT WHILE SICK WITH BELLY ACHE When she wasn't getting sick, she was visibly in discomfort and shaking. I actually texted my friend Cathy, owner of Jo-Mar, to ask what she would do - wait or just take her to the 24-hour hospital. I waited a while till 9:30, but then she got sick again, so off we went to the the animal hospital. Of course, once there, I was texting away about the status of our visit to Tanya (who is currently in San Diego), and Cathy, who was so supportive and comforting. The folks at Long Island Veterinary Specialists were so nice! The diagnosis (without blood and x-rays) was that my girl had some kind of virus. They hydrated her, gave her some meds for nausea and to coat her belly and by 11:30pm we were on our way home. The good news is that she didn't throw up again after the last time when I decided to take her and she seemed like the worst was behind her by the time we arrived at the hospital. As of this writing, she was still sleeping soundly this morning. So, what about the Queens Night Market?? Well, thanks to Karla, I have a few photos to share with you from last night!! I'll be featuring an article written by Karla tomorrow, which I cannot wait to share with you!! See more about Karla's visit last night on Twitter @cleverwomanny Fortunately for me, there is another Queens Night Market on October 27th, which is now on my calendar. Going to spend some time with my Punkin now AND head to laundromat to do some laundry. (Yup, I'm not replacing the washer-dryer since I'm selling the house). Have a blessed day!! -Travelin' Elisa xoxo | A photo recap from Rosarito to Ensenada, MexicoHi guys! I know I'm late, but better late than never...right?! Without any further delay, here is a recap of Saturday. Mine from San Diego and Dave's from Mexico!! And for once my day is one with less pictures and I'm the one who had more of a mellow day... After dropping off Dave to his shuttle at 6:30am I headed back to the hotel to work on the blog (yesterday's Daily Scoop), had a productive call with Travelin' Elisa and headed out for a fun morning and afternoon hanging out with my old travel buddy Jeff and his lovely girlfriend Jen - who I was meeting for the first time. And then I was off to go see and have lunch with my friends Micki and Kevin. Micki is due on November 30th (the day after Dominic's birthday) with their first child! Funny thing is that I met Micki, Kevin and Jeff all on the same day many years ago on a group road trip up to go snowboarding (for the first time ever) in Mammoth. It was a super fun weekend that feels like yesterday. Well not exactly yesterday, but you know what I mean. That was also back before I had a ski helmet and on that trip I certainly needed one... Sadly on the last day and last run of the weekend I ended up hitting my head pretty darn bad and with a moderate (grade 2) concussion - which was not a good thing! But that is another story that I'll save for you at a later date. These friends (who had know each other far longer than upon meeting me), like the best of us kinda lost touch with each other, yet still love hearing about how the others are doing and always send the best to one another. But meanwhile while I was catching up with friends, Crazy Dave was off cycling 50 miles from Rosarito to Ensenada in Mexico! Here are some of the pictures that he took and the messages that he sent me throughout the day: "Back on bus. I need a shower. It was so Mexican. Got both postcards off! Camera ran outta battery at the end. Lots of climbing. There was an accident or something out there in no man's land. A Totally torched truck and it started a brush fire... We just rode off to the side in the dirt... Well we had to walk our bikes... Pretty fun descent... Rosarito WAS sketchier than Ensenada... LMAO" Here are the pictures that he shared with me upon his return: Thanks to Dave for all of these in the moment pictures. I'm just glad he made it back ALIVE! Hope you've enjoyed his little show and tell. Until next time, -Travelin' Tanya |
