Elisa's Daily ScoopA Day to Celebrate GirlsGood morning folks!!! Happy Throwback Thursday!! A little bit of trivia - today is Girl Scout Day. On March 12, 1912, the first Girl Scout group was created by founder, Juliette (Daisy) Gordon Lowe. Lowe started the first group with 18 girls in Savannah, Georgia. On March 16, 1950, The Girl Scouts became a national organization, and was chartered by the United States Congress. Today, Girl Scouts are an international organization with millions of girls. I thought it would be fun to examine some "Girl Travel" information on this day in celebration of Girl Scout Day! While there are more and more women traveling the world and many even traveling solo, it's important to note that there are still destinations where women are not safe and need to be aware of, particularly if traveling solo: 15 Top Unsafe Cities in the World for Female Travelers: 1. Bogota, Colombia 2. Mexico City 3. Lima, Peru 4. New Delhi 5. Jakarta, Indonesia 6. Buenos Aires, Argentina 7. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 8. Bangkok 9. Moscow 10. Manila, Philippines 11. Paris 12. Seoul, South Korea 13. London 14. Beijing 15. Tokyo Why are these places unsafe? Generally speaking, women are either harassed or harmed more in these locations as compared to other world cities I did travel with my girlfriend, Cheryl to Beijing, back in 1991. We didn't encounter any problems, though, we were given a "dress code" of what we should and should not wear, to prevent being "stared at." As far as London and Paris, both of which I visited in the past few years alone with my oldest daughter, Rebecca, I did not encounter any issues to speak of. Tomorrow is an exciting day at school for the girls as they have their St. Patrick's Day Carnival at school. I'll be attending and hopefully, taking lots of pictures!! It means that today is not only TBT (Throwback Thursday), but it is also one week until my BIRTHDAY!!! And 8 days until I leave for my trip to the Azores!!!!!!! Am I excited?! HECK YEA! Plus this week is most likely gonna go by pretty darn quickly with all of the activities and events that it's loaded with! We really are not the homebody type of family whatsoever... Just yesterday was filled with typical errands and chores, and plenty of activities. There was Horseback Riding, Wrestling, Ice Skating, and Rock Climbing!! What a FUN day! Another thing that we accomplished was a couple of bookings off of my "what's left to do" list: 1. Our Portland Hotel - for the pre-trip to the Cousins Yellowstone Road Trip. 2. Our annual trip to Mendocino is almost 100% booked. All I need to do is book a rental and we are good to go! Such a wonderful and beautiful place. We really love it there! But the one thing that I didn't do was find a birthday outfit. Guess I'm gonna have to continue my hunt! Maybe I'll shop a bit online today!!! So, I'm sure that you've noticed all of the throwback pictures that are on today's SCOOP! CLICK HERE for the TBT story of the week from the Ashford Castle in Ireland - I just adore Ireland!
