W2GW - Hot Tickets....

Hey there! Welcome back.
And welcome to Where to Go Wednesday or as we like to call it W2GW.

Each week Elisa and I find and list things for you to check out and plan to do for the upcoming weekend, week, month...
You get the picture ;)

Usually we are searching out local events and we hand pick them for you, but sometimes we venture out a bit further - perhaps where we happen to be traveling at the time or maybe even your own hometown!

Be sure that you have already subscribed (in the sidebar on the right) and/or that you have book marked our page - as there is always something new going on, this page gets updated each and every day of the year!
Rain or shine we'll be here and there is never a dull moment!

So on that note I'll give you the update from yesterday...
It was yet another stables day for us, and my sister Jet who took a rain check last week and was suppose to come out with us this week backed out again..."next week for sure" is what we are being told.

WELL she might've actually had the right idea, because it was a totally WEIRD day at the stables and was completely unproductive.
The girls - Dream and Star (mares) we both in heat and IMO being absolutely dreadful.

As Practical Horseman Magazine puts it:
She forgets her manners, swishing her tail and trying to nip when you groom and tack her up. And when you ride she's a total airhead, ignoring your aids, whinnying, jigging and dancing, rubbernecking right and left.

YUP that was them alright!

So I had instructed Cosette to just forget about taking her out and having to deal with that behavior up too close and personal.

That was just one thing...

The other thing that happened while we were there was us being approached by an old frail sickly man (an old cowboy that has a horse at the barn), requesting that we take him to the market.

Well, as much as I'd like to help...I don't give rides to strangers.

I had offered that Cosette and I would go and pick something up for him if he were hungry, but since I refused his demand for a ride, he became rude and ignored me! WHATEVER.
My guess is that just wanted to purchase alcohol.

We eventually came home giggling at the experience and both agreeing that Jet had the right idea. Staying home from the stables! Oh well.

The remainder of my night went according to plans and was A-OK.

One thing that we did accomplish was buying tickets for One World Observatory which just opened a few days ago, on May 29th!
From what I'm hearing, this is the HOT ticket this summer and that tickets are in Limited Quantities.

So to kick off my W2GW I'll start with checking out
One World Observatory
in NYC where you can see 'FOREVER'

WTGW: Museum Mile, NYC

Happy, Happy Hump Day!!

Picture
Today is a mixture of fun and not so fun things. First, I have to get a mani-pedi first thing.  I have Mel & El's The Mommy Show tonight and the Charity event for OHF tomorrow night.

However, then I have to go to my brother-in-law Carlo's (dentist) office since I have had such a toothache for the past few days.  I'm not sure what is going on - if it's a cracked tooth or I lost a filling. Either way, I know he will figure it out.

W2GW: The Museum Mile in New York City...

With "Hump Day" also comes Where to Go Wednesday here on Travelin' Cousins.

Whether you are a native New Yorker or visitor to the Big Apple, Museum Mile is an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon or if you are able to attend, "an evening" at the Museum Mile Festival (see below).

The Museum Mile is a scenic stretch spanning Fifth Avenue from 104th Street to 82nd Street (traveling south - remember, Fifth Avenue south when driving) lined with some of the most world-famous museums and fine art institutions.

Museum Mile Festival:
Tues June 10, 2015
Opening Ceremony: Cooper Hewitt Gardens
5:45pm
Every year, on the second Tuesday of June, the Museum Mile Festival takes place. This event was established in 1978 to increase public awareness of its member institutions and promote public support of the arts.

This year, the event will be on June 10th - this coming Tuesday.

Here are some highlights of this annual event:
> Fifth Avenue is closed to traffic and becomes a pedestrian only walk-way.
> Museums are open free that evening to the public.
> Participating museums offer outdoor art activities for children.
> This year's opening ceremony will be hosted by Paul Thompson, the new director of the Cooper-Hewitt National Museum of Design.
> Live music from jazz to Broadway tunes to string quartets will be featured in front of each museum.

For more information, call 212-606-2296 or visit The Musuem Mile Festival.

These are the museums along Museum Mile :
  • El Museo del Barrio at 104th Street (devoted entirely to Puerto Rican, Caribbean and Latin American art.)
  • Museum of the City of New York at 103rd Street (established in 1923 to collect, preserve, and present original materials related to the history of New York City)
  • International Center of Photography at 94th Street
  • Jewish Museum at 92nd Street (the largest Jewish museum in the Western hemisphere.)
  • Cooper-Hewitt National Museum of Design at 91st Street (displays a virtual cornucopia of decorative and design arts in Andrew Carnegie's Upper East Side mansion.)
  • National Academy Museum and School of Fine Arts at 89th Street (one of the oldest artist-run organizations in the United States, founded in 1825, it houses a sizeable collection of American Arts, over 8,000 works)
  • Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum at 88th Street (designated the youngest New York City landmark, it houses works from artists of the 19th and 20th century including: Brancusi, Braque, Calder, Chagall, Robert Delaunay, Giacometti, Kandinsky, Klee, Leger, Miro, Picasso, and Van Gogh)
  • Metropolitan Museum of Art from 82-86 Street (With nearly two million works of art spanning more than 5,000 years from all over the globe)
  • Goethe House German Cultural Center at 82nd Street (one of the smallest museums in New York, it supports a wide range of international cultural exchange programs, ranging from the arts and humanities through science and technology.)
I do hope you will have an opportunity to experience this amazing event!!  I'm crossing my fingers for good weather next Tuesday.

See ya back here tomorrow for Throwback Thursday when Tanya will take us on a little trip down memory lane to Havasupai Falls at the Grand Canyon.
