Tanya's Daily Scoop
CURRENTLY IN: SAN DIEGO
Maritime Marvels
Boy am I stoked that it is overcast this morning! We are heading out to pedal in the
10th Annual Bike the Bay cycling event and I simply do not feel like baking in the sun.
I left off with you guys as we were heading into Brunch on Saturday at Bar Kindred. I already shared with you how much I always enjoy my meal at this establishment and Saturday was no different. It was super DELISH!!!
WOW GUYS! It was freakin' the BOMB amazing!
Next up we had a few things on the schedule but the only thing that actually had a start time was our Swift Boat historic cruise. So with the amount of time that we had before the boat ride I had wanted us to bang out our visit to Target (that way once we were downtown we could park the car and wouldn't have to deal with anymore driving - do you have any clue how much I can't stand driving in cities?)
But Dave is the type of guy who needs LOTS of time to get things done and I am "Nic-of-time Tanya" Dave's words. So he preferred that we went to catch the boat first. And that is what we did.
Being that we had an hour+ before our little tour, we decided to take a stroll around the quite impressive historic Steam Ferry Berkeley and the oh-so-many exhibits.
One thing that was a huge surprise to me was to find out that from the early thirties and up until the late seventies San Diego was known as the Tuna Capital of the World. Of course I don't eat Tuna (or and fish for that matter), but found it fascinating that I had absolutely no clue about this.
When the time came to take out little 75 minute boat tour, we hopped aboard the PCF-816 and off we went!
Once the boat had returned us to dock, we enjoyed touring the remaining boats and exhibits there at the Maritime Museum, where we even got to tour a B-39 Submarine!
Spending hours upon hours touring and being toured, we had definitely worked up an appetite!!
Next up was a quick check in at our hotel and then off to have dinner at Civico 1845. Sadly they were out of the Tortellini soup that I was looking forward to, but dinner was of course enjoyed regardless.
We still had 2 chores to take care of before being able to enjoy our room and hit the sack for the early start that we have today! We stopped at the downtown location of Jimbo's Naturally for some fresh squeezed juice to enjoy this morning, as well as a couple of energy boosting snacks to help us out in the case of any BONKING!!!
Target was last and it was a quick in and out. Then that was it, it was time to get into my jammies and jump into bed. Little did I know that I would not have the best night's sleep (I pretty much woke up each and every hour).
Well it's about time for us to line up and on your mark get set... GO!
I'm outta here,
-T
