Elisa's Daily ScoopSunny, Warm Florida...FinallyGreetings from Boca Raton, Florida!! Can I share with you just how warm and delightful it is here in sunny Boca? I had forgotten just how lovely the weather is "supposed" to be in Florida after the unusual cold spell we experienced in Orlando. I arrived yesterday at my parents' house around noon after a very smooth three hour drive from the Saratoga Springs resort. The girls played their electronics and napped a bit. I mostly listened to music, including a Temptations CD I bought earlier in the week. Last night was so peaceful sleeping underneath the ceiling fan next to the open balcony door, with the warm, light breeze blowing in. I wish I had a more exciting day of plans to tell you about, but today is going to be a very restful and relaxing day. I'm going to go on my usual 2 mile walk around the complex here and then work out to one of my exercise videos that I brought from home. While we were in Downtown Disney, both girls wanted to get Legos. Kelsey got one of the "Mind Craft" editions and Gianna selected "Friends." Since arriving at Grandma's, they both have been working feverishly on their creations!! Today is also going to be a day for them to finalize their homework. How's your week starting off? Did you all watch the 87th Annual Academy Awards last night? Since Tanya did such a great job of listing all the nominees in her blog post yesterday, I'm going to leave it to her to talk about the outcome today!!! But, please comment on whether you were happy with the winners!! Well, I'm off for a nice, leisurely walk with Dad! Enjoy your day!! -E xoxo | Tanya's Daily ScoopHi there everyone, can you believe that it's Monday? It just doesn't feel like a Monday to me. And not only is it Monday, but it is the last Monday of the Month?! Wowzers guys! We are already only a week away from March... And do you know what that means??? It's my birthday month! (can hardly contain my excitement) Yeah, I know I'm getting older and all in years, but I honestly can't feel a difference whatsoever from that of when I was a young adult (I can't very well say from when I was a young chick-a-dee, because obviously I'm taller now! lol). Back to my birthday month... It'll be a month of celebration! Pre and post birthday trips and lots of lots of fun! But in the meantime, I'm getting a bit ahead of myself. Let's focus on yesterday and today. It finally rained in this drought ridden never ending summer region that I live in. That was quite lovely. Our gang of 10 finally all went Bowling, as per Dominic's request. As guessed, I had a most difficult time bowling with my new (but very beautiful) claws! Yup I sucked out there! I could hardly keep up with 3 year old Chaplin! Luckily bowling is not really ma' thang, and I had no problem with being defeated by everyone except Chaplin... But she definitely gave me a run for my money, and at times even had a higher score than I did!!! Once we got home, it was all about the Oscars. But first, I had some cooking to do! I recruited both Dave B, and Dave C to assist me in the prep, and I banged out 5 finger foods (I know, I only had 4 listed on my menu yesterday - my bad). There was: The Real Food Daily Nachos Popcorn "Chicken" Sweet Corn Fritters & "Crab" Rangoon I apparently forgot to take any pictures of the: Cauliflower Hummus Finally after much anticipation it was time to eat and start watching the Oscars! Everyone filled their plates as high as they could for their soon to be food comas, found a place to sit in front of the boob tube, watched on as Neil Patrick Harris hosted (definitely giving us a few giggles throughout the night) and the winners graciously crossed the stage and gave their acceptance speeches (which oddly enough, so many of them had nothing to do with winning an Oscar). Here are your 2015 Oscar winners: Actor in a Supporting Role: J.K. Simmons, "Whiplash" Costume Design: "The Grand Budapest Hotel" Makeup and Hairstyling: "The Grand Budapest Hotel" Foreign Language Film: "Ida," Poland Live Action Short Film "The Phone Call" Documentary Short Subject "Crisis Hotline: Veterans Press 1" Sound Mixing "Whiplash" Sound Editing "American Sniper" Best Supporting Actress Patricia Arquette, "Boyhood" Visual Effects "Interstellar" Best Animated Short Film "Feast" Animated Feature Film "Big Hero 6" Production Design "The Grand Budapest Hotel" Cinematography "Birdman" Film Editing "Whiplash" Documentary Feature "Citizenfour" Original Song "Glory," "Selma" Original Score "The Grand Budapest Hotel" Original Screenplay "Birdman" Adapted Screenplay "The Imitation Game" Directing Alejandro González Iñárritu, "Birdman" Best Actor Eddie Redmayne, "The Theory of Everything" *Did the other nominees ever have a chance?! Best Actress Julianne Moore, "Still Alice" Best Picture "Birdman" The most moving acceptance speech of the night goes to Graham Moore: "I tried to commit suicide at 16 and now I'm standing here," he said. "I would like for this moment to be for that kid out there who feels like she doesn’t fit in anywhere. You do. Stay weird. Stay different, and then when it's your turn and you are standing on this stage please pass the same message along." On another note, while I've seen Lady Gaga in concert, and know that she can really put on quite the show! I must say that we were blown away by her traditional down to earth performance in the beautiful 50th anniversary tribute to The Sound of Music! Just lovely! Lastly, what really had me laughing and ended the night on a very funny note was Neil Patrick Harris signed off saying "buenas noches"! I was ROTFL!! Well that kinda sums it up for me, the kids have choir rehearsal this evening, and I've got plenty on my "to do" list. Catch up with y'all tomorrow! Have a super start to a super week! -T |
