Today also marks the birthday of a very special little girl...our cousin Kelsey who turned 9 years old today! How fun is that?!
Will you join us in sending her wishes from wherever you are for her to have her best birthday ever!!
Nothing too exciting going on over here today. I've got a lot of work to do with upcoming trip plans, and then later tonight Dave and I have a Board meeting where I'll be taking the minutes for yet again...and the kids are back to their Monday night choir rehearsal. Coming straight off of yesterdays very touching and humility building performance and community service experience at a convalescent home for Grandparents Day.
Always so proud of this group of kids. They just give and give. "For it is in giving that we receive."
And after the heart warming, humbling and touching visit, we headed to Huntington Beach to grab some lunch at Mitasie (which we've been to countless times) and is always quite yummy.
The plan for the evening was to finally go see The Man From U.N.C.L.E - I was looking forward to this one, and it did not disappoint!
So we stopped back at home so that I could put up the sauce for dinner and then we were off to hit the theatre!
While although I've never seen the original TV series I found the movie throughly entertaining and most enjoyable!
Casted wonderfully and not to mention very easy on the eyes ;) It is a signature piece from director (and Madonna's ex husband) Guy Ritchie, and not only that but it's definitely my favorite of his films to date!
I must say that as I already expect that there will be a sequel - doesn't take a genius to figure that one out...they make it quite obvious at the end of the movie. I'm already excited about it and looking quite forward to seeing this production team in action once again.Job well done!
I think that I can honestly say that this is probably my favorite movie of the year!
Ok folks, I've got lots to do. Have a wonderful day!

It's Kelsey's 9th Birthday!!
Folks, where does the time go???? I cannot believe my baby is 9 years old today.
Kelsey's 3rd Grade School Photo
I literally want to cry. I remember when this little nugget was just born....12:25pm on September 14, 2006. She weighed in (full term) at 4 lbs 10 oz.
She was sooooo little!! The first time I changed her diaper, I cried because she was like a little scrawny chicken!

My Birthday Girl!
But, make no mistake, this little one was feisty from the time she was born. At 9 days old, she was holding her head up, at 6 months she was saying her first word ("Liberty") and by 9 months, she was walking.
I remember holding her in my arms at 7 months and her saying "Ma!" and when I didn't answer her immediately, this kid would grab my face with her little, tiny hand and forcefully turned my head to face her's. She would not be put off!!
My little assertive baby is now a fiery, articulate, funny 9 year old!!
I LOVE YOU SWEETIE PIE, MORE THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE!!! H A P P Y B I R T H D A Y !

This year, Kelsey was not interested in having a traditional birthday party. She wanted to take a few friends to Adventureland -- and that's exactly what we did yesterday!!
Incidentally, the weather could not have been more perfect! Sunshine, cool breeze, dry!!
We caravanned to the amusement park in two cars. Me and Tedd in one with Kelsey and her four friends and my dear friend Alycia in another with Gianna and my nephews, Nolan and Julian.
Mind you, Alycia kindly volunteered to come along for an extra set of adult eyes, ears and hands (for holding all those water bottles!) and schlepping throughout the park all day!! A big Thank You to you!!
Nolan and Gianna on Turbulence
The ride to and from the park was a hoot!! It was like being a fly on the wall listening to the conversations with five fourth grade girls. I was literally cracking up at the things they were talking about, the things that made them laugh, and getting some insight into the inner workings of their young minds!!
At the park, all the kids worked together so nicely charting their course through the park and the rides they wanted to go on. Everyone got along so nicely! I was very proud of all of them.
I managed to get on a few rides as well! The highlight was Turbulence, which I went on with Gianna, Nolan and Julian. What fun!!
I am not a fan of spinning rides, and even though this roller coaster spins as it's going up and down, the spinning was not overwhelming at all. In fact, the spinning made the drops seem less extreme. Great ride!!

Tonight, we'll be taking Kelsey out for her birthday to her favorite restaurant, Season's 52.
This morning, I went out and got Dunkin' Donuts for Kelsey to bring in to school to celebrate her birthday. Can't wait to hear how her day went!
