Tanya's Daily Scoop | Elisa's Daily Scoop Hairstylists & Shelter Pets CelebratedHappy Saturday! Wow, am I glad the weekend is here. This week just tired me out. Did so much around the house - Spring cleaning and getting rid of lots of old junk. Anyway, last night, me and the girls went to see the school play, Peter Pan. It was very adorable! It was a nice change of pace for a Friday night, as we usually just crash. Today is an interesting day... it's a celebration of two things: Hairstylist Appreciation Day & Adopt a Shelter Pet Day Let's first begin with Hair Talk!! A talented hairstylist will not only make you look good but also make you feel good and today is the day we honor hairstylists everywhere. I know for me, my hair stylist is someone I have come to trust with my hair and in turn, the overall way I look and feel about myself. I'm not alone when it comes to how I view this special relationship. My own stylist, Ismari, has grown into a trusted friend as well and I'd be hard pressed to let just anyone cut, color and style my hair. CLICK HERE for more about Ismari's Hair Place on Long Island. And I want to send a big shout out to Ismari, Blanca and the entire staff! This day also celebrates the uniqueness of all styles of hair, which allows us to express our individuality. When it comes to hair, I can't think of anyone that does not express themselves with the way in which they wear their hair or lack thereof, for that matter! New styles, innovative processes and cutting edge looks are what make great stylists and give Hair Salons their reputation and following. But, how much would you pay for your hair to be styled? $600? $1000? $23,000??? Believe it or not, some internationally renown hair stylists command that much! According to thericher.com, individuals actually pay those exorbitant prices to get their locks coiffed! Check out the World's Most Expensive Haircuts in the World...starting from No. 10 and working our way to No. 1. 10. Oribe: $400 Cuban Born, located in New York City. Famous Clients: Jennifer Lopez 9. I guess money is no object for a great haircut for the rich!! BEFORE I GO ANY FURTHER - A BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LITTLE COUSIN CHAPLIN ON HER 5TH BIRTHDAY!! Today is also another very important day - it's National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day!! You know how important we take pet adoption and saving those homeless pets here on Travelin' Cousins. National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day is observed each year on April 30. This day was created as a way to raise awareness for thousands of pets that are waiting for (and needing) adoption from the shelters. My dear, sweet Liberty (RIP) was adopted as a puppy from a local shelter. I lost my sweetie last May and still cannot believe this beauty was a part of my life for close to 14 years. The joy she brought me can never be expressed. Some sad statistics about Shelter Animals: * Each year, approximately 2.7 million dogs and cats are killed every year because shelters are too full and there aren’t enough adoptive homes. * The main reasons animals are in shelters: owners give them up, or animal control finds them on the street. 3. Approximately 7.6 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year. Of those, approximately 3.9 million are dogs and 3.4 million are cats. It's so important that we spread the word to ADOPT rather than SHOP for our furry family members! Sad Sam and Honey(R) are SpokesPups for shelter pets everywhere, hoping to end "kill- shelters." What you can do: 1) Be a spokesperson for shelter pets and encourage friends and family to adopt from shelters. 2) Support "No-Kill" shelters all over. 3) Spread the word on social Media. Well, my dear ones, I'm outta here. Back to watch my girlies ride at the barn. Talk to you tomorrow when we wish our Orthodox Christians a Happy Easter and take a trip to...Greece!! -E xoxo |
