Adventureland Fun Memories & Trail MixHello my peeps!! Whatcha doing this Labor Day weekend? If you would like - please comment below because we would love to hear all about your plans! I really couldn't have asked for a more fun to kick off Labor Day weekend! As you may remember, yesterday I took my girls and my nephews to Adventureland in Farmingdale, Long Island. I really love this park! The landscape of the park is small enough that everything is relatively close and yet, there is no shortage of rides. They really thought out the selection of attractions well with plenty of thrill rides, water rides, an arcade, a haunted house and though it doesn't apply to my group anymore, a large number of kiddie rides. Gianna, Kelsey, Nolan and Julian got along so well, working out their plan of attack for tackling the rides. We rode the Lady Bug Rollercoaster (one of my favorites!) several times. Gianna and Julian went on the Hurricane Coaster while Nolan, me and Kelsey video taped it! They talked Nolan into eventually going on with them too! Through it all, Kelsey and I watched, filmed and snapped away to the sound of screams and the roar of the coaster whirling around the track! I promised one more trip to Adventureland before the park closes in October! Of course, our tradition is to end the day with a yummy treat of choice. Dippin dots for the little ones and funnel cakes for the older cousins! Speaking of treats, did you know that today is National Trail Mix Day? Kinda silly to me, but who doesn't like this sweet and savory snack? Traditionally, made with a combination of raisins and peanuts or granola and often a whole lot of other crunchy ingredients, Rumor has it that trail mix was first invented in 1968 by two California surfers who blended peanuts and raisins together for an energy snack. It's certainly come a long way as you can see from the many recipes:
What a fun food to bring to a Labor Day party or barbecue this weekend! Have fun today and see you back here tomorrow! -E Happy National Trail Mix Day!! | Fun times is Vegas Baby!Heya! How's everyone doing this mighty fine Sunday morning? Is everyone enjoying the holiday weekend? Comments please :) Pretty please ;) We are totally curious, most of you are so hush hush. The occasional comment on FaceBook, and Twitter, but so shy on here! LOL If you've been keeping up with us, we are in Sunny Las Vegas this weekend. And boy is it HOT! But "it's a dry heat" as they love to say! Okay so I'm baking - it's like an oven out there! On our way into town, our first stop was one of our traditions...Ronald's Donuts!!! We indulged in a huge box of goodies and devoured a few bags of donut holes on the way out of the parking lot! Next up was brunch - as we really didn't have breakfast yesterday. We went to Society Cafe in the Encore Resort; which is always a good meal in a fun atmosphere. We checked in and then really just hung out and played silly games the entire remainder of the afternoon. Not budging until it was time to freshen up and change for dinner. With the exception of me running out to go pick up drinks (nonalcoholic), and a couple of extra small items. They sent me out to the wolves! Nobody wanted to join me in leaving the room! And boy oh boy is Vegas fun of it's assortment of interesting people! By the time of our dinner reservations, we were all rather hungry. We headed to La Cave at the Wynn Resort, and settled in for a loud dining experience. It was our first time trying this establishment, and well it was rather loud (if I didn't already mention that). The food was tapas style and it was all quite good. But Cosette hated the atmosphere and was kinda being a bit of a moody little princess :( It spite of the hotel alarms going off in the wee hours of the night. With a cleared alert. I was still up bright and early with the excitement of taking these rug rats to the pool, but I suppose they stayed up later than dear 'ol mom and chose to sleep late rather than get up and at 'em! Silly kids! About to go to breakfast now, and then we shall see where the day leads - since I've pretty much given the kids and Dave the lead on this weekend. I'll just be waiting around to hear what they want to do... I'll be back here tomorrow to let you know what they decided! Until then - let the sunshine lead your day with it's brightness and cheer! -T |
