List of Summer Activities Complete!Yesterday was truly a glorious day! Sat in my yard most of the day soaking up rays and managed to turn from milky white to a slight golden. My family always called me "mozzarella" because I never get much color. Can't sit long enough in the sun. But, sitting outside with my laptop, writing all my travel blogs, has changed that! I may actually look alive this summer! I mentioned in yesterday's Daily that I wanted to put a list of sites and activities for this summer during the months of June and July, to do locally. Considering we will be gone most of August in Italy, I thought I would take advantage of all the rich culture, history and fun that Long Island has to offer. Living here, I sometimes forget all the "tourist" stuff that exists right in my own backyard. I will formulate all of my Long Island Summer adventures into a number of articles for your reading pleasure, throughout the summer. So here is my intended list of places and events: These are already scheduled with specific dates: Weekend of June 13th: * Big Apple Circus (Queens, NY) Weekend of June 20th: * See Jersey Boys, The Movie (cannot wait!! Yay!!) * Hallockville Museum Farm in Riverhead (This museum tells the story of 240 years of farming on the North Fork of Long Island) * Kelsey Piano Recital (she's practiced so hard - cannot wait!) | A Rather Spunky Kind of Day!We had a lovely surprise at dinner last night. While dining at Mitasie, just as we had placed our order in walks Jet, Andrew, and Chaplin! None of us had any clue that the rest of us were planning on dinner at the same restaurant! It turned out to be a very fun little unplanned family meal/night. **Keeping in mind that we all live together. And that Mitasie is not located anywhere around Anaheim Hills (it's in Huntington Beach). Funny little co-inky-dink! There was definitely lots of running around yesterday, but we accomplished everything without a hitch! Plus, I DID get to finally go to the bookstore (got a book on Santa Fe/Taos/Albuquerque), and even fit a little more shopping in there as well (we all got some fun tennis outfits/active wear)! As for today, well we are gonna test out these new tennis outfits and see if they improve our game! LOL We're also about to head out on a bike ride, and at some point we'll catch a movie (I'm thinking as a family group event). Hopefully this weekend, we manage some lunchtime refueling nourishment in between all of these fun activities! I gotta keep-on truckin'-on now! I hope you are already having a marvelous weekend, only taking a short break from all of the marvelousness to read our little blog about two cousins obsessed with Travel, and that you'll go continue enjoying your Sunday and meet me back here tomorrow! ;) Toodles, -T And lastly, does anyone know what today marks? Today Travelin Cousins is 4 weeks old! Yay! |
These we will fit in throughout June and July: *African American Museum, Hempstead (Local and national artists) * Raynham Hall Museum, Oyster Bay (Recognized as a Revolutionary War Heritage Site by NY State) * The Heckscher Museum of Art, Huntington * The Long Island Museum, Stony Brook (The best collection of horse-drawn carriages in the U.S.) * Southhampton Historical Museum, Southhampton (all about Southhampton) Specifically with kids in mind: * The Animal Farm, Manorville (For children to meet, feed & interact with all types of animals, Musical puppet show, playground & picnic areas) * Adventureland, Farmingdale (Amusement park - fun!)* The Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery, Cold Spring Harbor (Large collection of fish, amphibians and turtles houses in 2 buildings and outdoor ponds) *Long Island Aquarium, Manorville *Long Island Game Farm, Manorville (been here, but it's always fun to see the lemurs, kinkajoos, cougars and zebras) * Long Island Science Center, Riverhead (Interactive science exhibits) * The Whaling Museum & Education Center of Cold Spring Harbor, Cold Spring Harbor (Local history of whaling on Long Island) My plans also includes seeing at least one Yankees game with Tanya and all the kids during their visit to New York in July. Well, I will keep you posted on my schedule! And a little sadness goes out to California Chrome for not winning the triple crown yesterday at Belmont. We were all so sad! -E |
