I woke up this morning and knew that the temps started dropping yesterday, but had no idea just how much!!  When I went outside to start the car, to get it warmed up before driving the kids to school and it felt like I got slapped up the face with a cold hand. I warned the girls to bundle up, which they did, but they also yelled with their first step into the freezing outdoors. At this point, we still had no idea what the temperature was. As I was backing out of the driveway, I glanced at the control panel and my eyes almost popped out when I saw "11 degrees!" WOW - what a difference a week makes!!  Well, this week is full of errands and catch up. But, that doesn't mean, that I'm not looking beyond to the weeks ahead! Considering that Old Man Winter has finally arrived, I thought I would focus on some "indoor" adventures in January. Here's what I'm thinking... Museums are always an enjoyable way to stay warm and become enlightened!!  Louis Armstrong House Museum 34-56 107th St. Corona, NY 11368 718 478 8274 louisarmstronghouse.org Get a glimpse into the life of Jazz legend, Louis Armstrong with a visit through the home he shared with is wife, Lucille from 1943 until his death in 1971. Lucille gave ownership of it to the city of New York in order to create a museum focused on her husband. Guided 40-minute historic house tours start every hour on the hour with the last tour of the day beginning at 4 pm. The latest exhibit, through October 2016 - Hotter Than That - 90 Years of Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five, celebrates these landmark recordings that were the first records ever to be issued under Armstrong’s own name. Now through February 14, 2016, the Martin Wong: Human Instamatic will be the first museum retrospective of the work of Chinese-American painter Martin Wong (1946-1999). The exhibition will offer the first in-depth assessment of Wong’s formal contributions as a painter. The exhibition will feature over 90 of Wong’s paintings with rarely-seen archival materials from the Martin Wong Papers at the Fales Library of New York University.
