A Busy Day in Colorado..Hello & HAPPY Sunday! We are hailing at ya from Vail, Colorado today. Yup we finally made it! Let me catch you up to speed. So much to see and do, and I sure can pack a day! Dave B. claims that we do a week and a half worth of stuff all in a day! I'm guessing that we've already blown through any extra reserve sleep/rest that he may have had. Yesterday yesterday. Wow yesterday! The day started out with a scenic drive out to Estes Park and to Rocky Mountain National Park. After catching extraordinary views and doing a lovely driving tour, checking out just as much as we could (many of the roads are closed during the winter), it was time to stamp our National park passports and continue on with our plans for the day. Following our time in the park we headed to the Sombrero Ranch (located right outside of the park grounds) for our scheduled Horseback riding tour. While there wasn't quite as much snow as I was expecting (in fact many spots had no snow at all), the ride was quite picturesque and to top it off we had an extra special guide who not only was quite personable, informative and entertaining but he was Cowboy Chris Blethen who has completed charity horseback treks for 'Horse Ride for Heroes' from Texas to NYC (and back), and then from Texas to Southern California (and back). Look him up! His story was truly amazing. So if you are ever up in or around Estes Park, Colorado and you want to go horseback riding this is the place to go and the guy to request! When our ride was over, it was time to head back down to Denver and go to Nooch (the all vegan market), and then to go see the comedy 'Daddy's Home' - both cute and very funny, this was a winner for all, as we laughed in our seats and were thoroughly entertained! After the movie Dominic had even mentioned that this might be his favorite comedy ever! WOW! At this time (9pm), the night was still young and it was finally time for dinner. So we went to City O City and noshed away. After dinner I had a surprise for the kids and had them blind folded as we drove to Denver International Airport... Dave C. had come in for a surprise visit. He has never before come to Colorado with us and Cosette has been wanting to show him around Breckenridge! Once they lifted the blind folds I think they were a bit shocked and were like "Dad, what are you doing here?! I thought we were going for dessert?!" OMG I was cracking up hysterically!!! After which I surprised them again and it was actually Siri (the blabber-mouth) who let the cat out of the bag as to where we were going next... VooDoo Doughnuts! Yup I recently found out that VooDoo doughnuts from Portland has opened a Denver location and we were on our way! This REALLY made the kids excited! Such foodies!!! And just like the Portland location, this one too had a long line for a pink box of doughnuts - their tagline "Good Things Come In Pink Boxes"! It was around 1am and time to head back to Dillon for our last night on the lake. Today we check out of Dillon and check into Breckenridge. Of course that'll be after a day of skiing in Vail! Have a great Sunday and I'll catch you from Breckenridge tomorrow with all the Scoop from today. Toodles, -T | Snow Removal DayHello and welcome to Day 2 of Winter storm Jonas! We As of 9pm last night, New York City had gotten 25.1 inches of snow!! Pretty crazy as this was the very first snowfall of this Winter season. I didn't really accomplish much of anything yesterday, although I did catch up on a marathon of the Property Brothers on HGTV. Did you ever see this show? It's great!! These two twin brothers work together to help people find homes and then renovate them. And boy do they have great taste!! I would love for them to help me renovate a fixer-upper!! What's more, they do major renovations in less than 6 weeks!! If you are not familiar with the show, one brother is a real estate broker and the other is a contractor/designer. Their work is truly beautiful!! Here is one of their BEFORE and AFTERS: They do such gorgeous work!!!! I want them to help me do my home! In snow news, I finally was able to plow out today. Thank goodness the sun is shining! The kids are waiting with baited breath to see if school is cancelled tomorrow!! We shall see! Have a great day!! -E xoxo |
