Christmas in New YorkHowdy folks and happy hump day! Well thank goodness the rain stopped. It's still not sunny but it's a lot easier to get around without all the rain and wind today. I'm heading over to Kelsey's Brownie meeting today. We are having our Christmas party and will be doing some crafts, eating pizza and singing Christmas carols. It's also the start of Girl Scout Cookie selling season, so we'll be gearing up these third graders for another year of selling! New York City Christmas Visit... Since it's Where To Go Wednesday, I wanted to talk about what I consider to be one of the greatest places in the world to visit during the Holiday season - Midtown New York City! If you live in around the New York City area you cannot let the holiday season pass you by without a visit to one of the most iconic places at Christmas time. To me it really doesn't matter how many times you've been here each year is just a special and can bring new holiday memories here is my Top 5 Places to See in the Big Apple during the month of December 1) The Tree at Rockefeller Center Is really not much I can say since this speaks for itself the tree the skaters the hustle bustle of the crowd is quintessential New York City. If you're fortunate enough to plan your trip in advance dining at the Rock Center Café is a wonderful way to watch the skaters up close as you dine. 2) St. Patrick's Cathedral This beautiful Cathedral is worth the gander every time you have a chance. CLICK HERE for St. Pat's website for mass times and gift shop information. 3) The Holiday Window Display at Saks Fifth Avenue Decorated differently each year these windows Have become the New York holiday tradition. For a sneak peak, CLICK HERE. 4) Radio City Music Hall Spectacular This year, the show features over 140 performers, lavish sets and costumes and an original musical score. If you haven't seen the show it should be a must on your to do list this season. CLICK HERE for more information and to purchase tickets. 5) Strolling Along Fifth Avenue So many shops, so much to browse and look at - it's a wonderful way to truly take in one of the greatest shopping cities in the world! I am hoping to do the New York City day in the city during the week between Christmas and New Year's when the kids are off from school. In the past we've traveled during this week but this year we are staying put and I'm really looking forward to being in my own hometown this Christmas season! So today I decided that for Where to go Wednesday that I would share with you where I'm gonna go and relish in the holiday spirit and festivities!! It's been a tradition that I take the kids down to San Diego every year and we head to the: 1) San Diego Seaport Village Where you'll find a huge poinsettia christmas tree, traditional photos with a Surfin' Santa, Holiday Stores 'o Plenty, Breakfast with Santa, a Parade of Lights with more than 80,000 spectators expected, the San Diego Bay Parade of Lights features boats decorated for the holiday season! This is new on my list of holiday things to do! 2) Winter Fantasy at the Sawdust Festival The festival grounds transform into a winter wonderland where 175 artists create, display and sell original creations over the course of five weekends. The Winter Fantasy is offers the most unique holiday shopping in all of Southern California. Experience unique artwork by 175 artists, live holiday entertainment, great outdoor cafes, art classes and demonstrations, petting zoo, Santa and much, much more!! With amazing art gifts, thousands of holiday decorations and picture-perfect moments, the Sawdust’s Winter Fantasy is certain to become your family’s holiday tradition. 3) Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade The Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade, features as many as 100 boats and is in its 106th Year and is hailed as “one of the top ten holiday happenings in the nation” by the New York Times. With this year’s theme, “Deck the Hulls with Bows of Jolly” the parade is the premiere event of the holiday season in Southern California. 4) Temecula Chilled Temecula Valley transforms into a holiday fantasy for families and friends to start traditions and create memories. Temecula Chilled invites its guests to relax in the winter sunshine while sipping chilled wine, ice skating, strolling under colorful light displays, and taking in the sights, sounds and festivities of the season. 5) Irvine Christmas Train Tis the season, once again, for Irvine Park Railroad’s annual Christmas Train. Come with family and friends and take this enchanting night ride through historic Irvine Regional Park to meet Santa Claus. The train will depart from the brightly-lit train station and drop passengers off at the North Pole. Children can share their wish list with Santa and have their photo taken with him too. After visiting with Santa, hop back aboard the train and enjoy the colorful Christmas lights and decorations, as well as the magical “Tunnel of Lights”, on the ride back to Santa's Village. 6) Mission Inn Festival of Lights Enjoy more than 4 million dazzling holiday lights, appearances by Santa Claus, the world’s largest manmade mistletoe measuring 12’ x 8’, horse-drawn carriage rides, freshly fallen snow, an elaborately decorated Christmas tree in the hotel lobby. The Mission Inn’s Festival of Lights is a citywide initiative with a vision of a Dickensian holiday spectacle featuring lights and decorations throughout downtown Riverside, an outdoor ice-skating rink on the Main Street pedestrian mall, holiday vendors and family-friendly entertainment. And lastly, a stroll through one of the best decorated neighbors... 7) Eagle Hills Christmas Lights Spectacular More than 100 homes participate in the holiday light display in the Eagle Hills neighborhood in Brea. The popular location during the holidays is a great walk or drive to enjoy the lights, decorations, music and nativity scene in the Orange County area. Some homes even decorate the inside of their homes and allow visitors to take a look. The holiday season is alive and the joy is evident in this neighborhood in Brea. Well, that's about all folks!
