I'm having one of those days guys - first of all, we woke up with all intentions of going to the barn but then I took a look at the temperatures and the wind chill, and I just couldn't let it happen.
In Winters past, their trainer, Concetta, would cancel the riding day if the temps were below 30 degrees. But, that hasn't been the case this year.
So, needless to say, Kelsey had a bit of a meltdown and was very sad and miserable. It really sucks being a mom sometimes. We are the bearer of bad news and have to be hated when we make the tough decisions.
Honestly, I could deal with the hatred, but the carrying on, crying and yelling is what I can't take.
Unfortunately, life doesn't always work out the way we want, which is a difficult lesson to teach a 10-year old!
in any case, it's Saturday!!! YAY!!
Since I'm now spending the day at home, I don't really have any particular plans for the day. My dear Gianna has been a bit of the social butterfly lately and had a birthday party, so it will be a "Mommy & Kelsey" afternoon.
So, a little travel talk...
BIG BEN, LONDON (c) travelincousins.com
I made a bit of progress on my London trip planning this week - not much - but every little bit helps.
First, I adjusted my itinerary for Gianna's 13th Birthday Trip to London to include a visit to the Churchill War Rooms, which I'm hoping the kids will enjoy regardless that it's "historic" lol. Did I tell you how much they hate "history stuff." So ridiculous. But, I'm certainly gearing this trip enough around their needs and wants that they can suck it up for a bit before heading to our first Afternoon Tea on Day 2 of our trip.
Additionally, I made a lunch reservation for Day 4 prior to our theatre date to see Mamma Mia!
I just love working via email with restaurants and hotels prior to my visit. It makes me feel as if I know the folks before arriving!
Lastly, I did some research for lunch and dinner reservations for our Day in Paris (Day 6).
I know there is no question that the girls want crepes for lunch!! And I'm doing my best to find something right near the Eiffel Tower.
As far as dinner, I'm working with the hotel manager, who recommended a cute little cafe nearby where we are staying. The restaurant was built in 1921 and seems to be quite quaint!

Now, I'm just awaiting a reply from the restaurant. I'm still in the process of figuring out where to eat lunch - will keep you posted.
Is anyone sick of the Winter already? Here's a picture of the snow coming down taken while driving yesterday. We really didn't get much accumulation. BUT, now they are predicting a major Nor'easter for the coming week - ENOUGH ALREADY!!!

Tanya's Daily Scoop NEXT TRIP DEPARTS IN: 9 DAYS
Is it only Saturday?!
Today is gonna be a real quickie as I'm heading back into EXPOWEST...
What a rush yesterday was!
It was a very long and busy day at this very bustling convention where at times it reminded me of trying to move around in the heart of Times Square - which btw I try to avoid!
But nonetheless it was a great day. With lots of stories to be told and articles to share - but this will all have to be accomplished post expo. Sorry Charlie!
So many awesome new product debuts and international vendors of which I personally might be quite familiar with thanks to my addiction to traveling and my title of: WORLDWIDE VEGAN FOODFINDER. How lucky are we that these fine companies are trying to break into the US markets!
But no matter what I say it is no comparison to actually being there.
While I had my camera around my neck and I was clicking away - I won't be sharing any of those pics with you until after the show.
However for now you can have a sneak peak at some snaps that I took with my phone:
It was a HOT winters day here in SoCal and one of the first things I tested out was a can of Organic Cactus Water - go figure ;)
One product that actually had me do a double take was Eat Real Snack Quinoa Puffs - you might be wondering why and I'll be glad to give you the whole SCOOP - however it'll be post show - so be sure to check back on my behind the scenes blog all about EXPOWEST in the coming week!
One of my faves thus far was the Katsu Cutlet by Field Roast - I cannot wait to find this at my local market!!
And how can I forget to share with you just a nibble of some of the sweets that I was able to get my hands on!!
Anyhoo and anyhow this place is huge and I don't know if it is even possible for me to see it all (even with 2 more full days of being there), so I've got to be on my way. Wish me luck!!
