Queensbound to Queens Night Market

Hello there!  What an absolutely gorgeous day here on Long Island today!!

Actually, it began as a cool, breezy and dry evening last night. 

After getting a very relaxing (and much needed) manicure/pedicure late afternoon yesterday with Gianna (Kelsey opted out!), we made some dinner while watching old YouTube videos of some of the funniest X-Factor auditions. 

We had some good laughs, the three of us and filled our bellies - well, I felt more full than I liked, so we girls headed out to the gym for a very late night work out. That's right - better late than never and we returned close to midnight!!  But, I will tell you, I felt amazing, having briskly walked 3 miles on the treadmill!

I had a chance to chat with Tanya during her first morning this weekend in San Diego.

She and Dave drove down last night to enjoy a weekend and take in a Padres' game, but also so that Dave could participate in the 39th Anniversary Rosarito Ensenada 50 Mile Bicycle Ride!

From what Tanya described, it takes about 45 minutes to get to the location where the ride takes place and then these very brave individuals (for which, Tanya is not one this time), ride around for 50 Miles.  

I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures taken by Dave and hearing all about his experience!

More about my day...

As for me, I'll be heading with my gang into Queens to the Queens Night Market later this afternoon through the evening.  And let me tell you, I could not have asked for a nicer weather day to do so!

I'll be sure to tell you all about it tomorrow with lots of pictures of us chowing down!!

Well hellooooo there and GREETINGS from San Diego!

Although it might be Saturday, it was yet another early morning for me (5am).
But I'm now back in my hotel room sitting here writing to you while overlooking the San Diego Bay and Downtown San Diego.

I've just returned from dropping Dave off at the shuttle pick up location for his ​Rosarito to Ensenada bike ride.

He has his passport with him and hopefully doesn't run into any problems while south of the border.

As for me...I've heard waaaaay too many stories to feel comfortable going along on this one.

We all know that I love love love traveling, but it should also be remembered that for me and my family SAFETY IS NUMBER ONE!

And quite sadly there are a number of places in this world that I might have interest in going to for one reason or another; BUT I always take precautions and start by checking the state department travel advisories and warnings.

Baja California state – Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution

Exercise increased caution due to crime.

Criminal activity and violence, including homicide, remain an issue throughout the state. According to the Baja California State Secretariat for Public Security, the state experienced an increase in homicide rates compared to the same period in 2016. While most of these homicides appeared to be targeted, criminal organization assassinations, turf battles between criminal groups have resulted in violent crime in areas frequented by U.S. citizens. Bystanders have been injured or killed in shooting incidents.

Due to poor cellular service and hazardous road conditions, U.S. government employees are only permitted to travel on “La Rumorosa” between Mexicali and Tijuana on the toll road during daylight.

There are no U.S. government restrictions in tourist areas in Baja California, which includes: Ensenada, Rosarito, and Tijuana.

To all of which Travelin' Tanya says a big NO THANK YOU!

Because at the end of the day I'd rather have another day to travel the rest of the world and enjoy the wonderful life that I live than to visit someplace dangerous and put myself at risk - regardless of the "odds".

So I was a flake yesterday (I hate flakes) and I never managed to do my column of the blog. 
Sorry about that, I have no excuse - mainly because I also hate excuses.

I was running around all morning and afternoon, once I finally got home I still needed to pack! There is no way that I'd wait so long to pack for any other trip, but being that this is only a weekend trip to San Diego I really didn't feel any self inflicted pressure and it was easy peasy. 

I also still needed to run around and do some shopping to stock up for the kids and while I was at Sprouts I had noticed these weird looking Pumpkins...

Once all the chores were done, we were on our way and the first stop was to grab some dinner at Mother's Market and Kitchen where we shared a vegan Quesadilla and each had ordered the Jackfruit Enchilada special. I guess this weekend kind of has a Mexican spin on it! LOLOL

While Dave is off in Mexico, I'll be staying here in San Diego and hanging out with a few friends that I haven't seen in years! More on this tomorrow.
