Friends, Photos & Fun Friday

HAPPY FRIDAY!
Yes, the weekend is just about here.  I will be out the door at 7:30 this morning for a day of friends, photographs and fun!

I'll be meeting my friend Karla for morning get together.  Hopefully, we'll discuss our plan of action for going to the Queens Night Market tomorrow evening, as well as a Daycation to Sheepshead Bay - preferably without the kids!  

Then I'll be taking a leisurely drive up to the Bronx to Bronx Community College for the opening reception and artist talk for Marisol Diaz-Gordon's photography exhibit, "25: A Retrospective."

​I'm not sure if I ever told you how Marisol and I met.  I was writing my blog one day outside Starbucks on Seventh Street in the Garden City (one of my fave places to write) and this lovely young lady was snapping away at the exteriors of some of the business establishments on the street.

I figured she was a professional photographer, but was pretty absorbed in my work, so I didn't pay too much attention.  Then, as I was getting into my car, I noticed that the same young lady was sitting in the car parked right next to mine!  I just took it as a sign that I should say hello -you know, blogger to photographer.  

Boy, am I glad I did!  Turns out, it is such a small world.  Marisol works for Newsday (the Long Island newspaper) and was on assignment, however, as fate would have it, she is from the Bronx and knew the publisher I write for at ThisIsTheBronx.info, Gary.  Is that a small world or what!!!

Well, we exchanged cards and here it is a few months later and I received an invite to her photography show and decided to do a feature about this talented photojournalist for my article for ThisIsTheBronx.info this week, and post it on TC as well!

Of course, I'll have numerous photos from my day today, which will be posted on tomorrow's blog!


As for the rest of my day - I'll be home in time for school dismissal and then folks, I'm heading for some pampering - a mani-pedi and massage.  
Boy, do I need it!!!
