Baking, Eating & CupcakesHello!!!! Here we are at Foodie Friday again. I never thought I would be so excited to hear about vegan eateries and food as much as I am when Tanya shares her foodie experiences!! Everything looks and sounds so scrumptious! Check out World's Best Acai Bowl today. My day is pretty ordinary - getting hair done today and I love this cool, crisp, Fall, "good hair" weather! My feeling is, if your hair looks good, you feel good about yourself. So, speaking about Food, I have a fun weekend planned that involves a lot of food. First of all, tomorrow, Gianna takes her last baking class for this session. I know she is excited about it! After her class, we will be headed over to the Harvest Festival being held at the girls' school. I volunteered to help out, while the kids enjoy the festivities with the other children. They will have bouncy houses, pony rides and lots of merchandise for shopping and tons of homemade baked goods!! Saturday night is date night - still a surprise as to where Tedd will be taking me for dinner, but, wherever it is, I know I'll be eating well! The plan is to see a movie as well, which I'm hoping will be the new Jason Bateman movie, This is Where I Leave You. Now, Sunday is really all about food! Me and the girls will be heading into NYC to go on the Cupcake Tour of New York! I have wanted to do this since the Spring, but was never able to find the time to slug it into our schedule. Finally, a free Sunday!! The tour company, Great Tours of New York offers a whole variety of walking, chauffeured and helicopter tours around the NYC area. Many of these are food-related, including a Pizza Tour, Chocolate Tour and a Brooklyn Food Tour. The Cupcake Tour sounded like such fun considering how much my kids love cupcakes and Gianna's interest in baking. Honestly, I don't know who is more excited! It is offered Thursdays through Sundays for 2-hours and require advanced bookings. We will be visiting six different cupcake retailers all of which offer tastings! The list includes Baked by Melissa and Magnolia Bakery. My mouth is watering already! Mark your calendar - December 15th is National Cupcake Day!! Just in the middle of the holiday season! And for some trivia about cupcakes, according to Wikipedia, the first mention of the cupcake can be traced as far back as 1796, when a recipe notation of a "cake to be baked in small cups" was written in American Cookery by Amelia Simmons. The earliest documentation of the term cupcake was in "Seventy-five Receipts for Pastry, Cakes and Sweetmeats" in 1828. I will tell you all about our tour next week!! Don't forget to join us tomorrow for Shoppin' Saturday. I'll be talking all about the best places to shop in the USA! Here's to a great day!!! -E | TGIFF (Thank God it's Foodie Friday!)It's Foodie Friday! How exciting! I'm one of those types who dreams about fantasy meals. I drool over menus, and recipes. I plan out what I'm eating well in advance to visiting new and favorite restaurants! Some may ask or wonder what if I'm in the mood for something else when I get there? Nope. I know who I am and what I'm gonna want! I'm actually not the type to have any cravings...ever. Even when I was preggo with the two kiddos. Not a single craving. But I spend tons of time day dreaming over food! Totally weird I know. Like I've said it before, Food then Travel, then Food then Travel, then back to Food then Travel, and over and over! I'm obsessed! And I hope you enjoy reading about the Featured Restaurant of the Week - Green Bliss Cafe, home to the World's BEST ACAI BOWL, judged by me! I'm mostly finished packing, the weather forecast is looking pretty hot for our trip, so mostly shorts and tees (the kids will like that!), I still have all the little extras to toss in our bags, in additional to any odds and ends that I might come up with before we pull out of the driveway early on Wednesday morning! Meal plans are all set. I'll also be out running all over town today picking up supplies for our New Mexico Road Trip. When I go shopping it can almost be compared to going on a scavenger hunt, with all of the different stores and stops that I have to make in order to get the exact products that I am looking for. No one stop shopping for me! That's okay, because I really enjoy shopping too! Can't forget that I've also gotta go get my nails done. Today is the last opportunity that I'll have before the start of the road trip. Too much going on this weekend... If you live in or are visiting Southern California then you are not gonna want to miss The Irvine Global Village Festival, which takes place tomorrow (September 27th), from 10am-6pm at Bill Barber Park. That's where you will find us, and the International Peace Choir - with Dominic and Cosette performing. Exciting travel news is that Hawaii is all booked and the dates are set for September 2015! Lots of detail to work on, but so excited to have set that trip in motion! Come back and tune in tomorrow for a Saturday Special on Safety, along with all the new Scoop on the Daily! See you then, -T |
