Elisa's Daily Scoop My new favorite series...Hey there! Hope you are having a great day! So, it's Sunday and what a busy day I have. We are celebrating Kelsey's birthday, once again...this time at Adventureland, where she wanted to have a fun day with her barn friends. However, prior to our day of rides and amusement fun, I have the following to get done: * Morning routine with Punkin (let out, feed and let out again). * Two loads of laundry (colored and white - the "barn clothes") * A Power Walk for me * Bank * Gas I was nervous about leaving Punkin alone today, but I worked it out so she will not be alone!! Yay! She's still so nervous when she is left alone. We have to work on this because it really feels like I have a newborn baby lol. The plan is to meet all the kids at around 11:30 at the amusement park and spent three to four hours bopping around. One of the other moms is going to be hanging with me, so it should be fun! I need to tell you about my latest entertainment obsession. Although I don't really watch much tv, I occasionally will go to Netflix and catch a movie or watch one of my faves like House of Cards or Scandal. If I do happen to get hooked on a series, I am a binge watcher. I will literally watch non-stop for a period of days, until I see the entire season or the series in its entirety if there are more than one season. As I was perusing Netflix, I came across "Crazy Ex Girlfriend" which I thought, at first glance was a movie, but I immediately realized it was a series. With no clue about what is on network tv, or the latest programs on cable and live-streaming, I was not familiar with this show, which debuted on October 12, 2015 on the CW. All I can say is that I fell in love with this show created by Rachel Bloom (who is the lead character) and Aline Brosh McKenna. It's got a very interesting twist as it is part Romantic and Dark comedy, part Satire, drama and ...Musical. That's right folks, if you haven't as yet watched this show, I have to tell you, it's really hysterical and very entertaining. The dialog is quick paced, full of wit and very down to earth in its tone. What's super fun about it is that it's a "musical!" Yes - in this day in age, a musical. Each episode contains two to three original songs. These are usually sung by Rebecca (the lead character) or a character she is having a direct interaction with, parodying the musical theater, bursting into song at significant moments in the plot. Ok so here is the synopsis: Rebecca Bunch (Rachel Bloom) is a Jewish, Yale- and Harvard-educated lawyer, who works for a top New York firm, with a totally overbearing, "Scarsdale" mother. She freaks out after being offered a partnership and while contemplating what to do outside her office building, she "bumps" into Josh Chan, (her first love from Summer camp, ten years earlier), on the street. Rebecca never got over Josh dumping her at the end of camp and so she sees it as a sign when he tells her that he couldn't hack it in New York and is moving back to his hometown, West Covina, California. ("Just two hours from the beach, four hours in traffic"). While watching a butter spread commercial, Rebecca decides to follow Josh in search of happiness. She hops a plane to LA, gets a job at Darryl Whitefeather's West Covina law firm, buys a house, and flushes all her anxiety and depression pills down the sink. She becomes friends with the firm's paralegal, Paula, and begins an on-again-off-again relationship with Josh's friend Greg, while trying to reconnect with Josh. Whew!! You have to catch this - it's truly lighthearted and has garnered serious critical acclaim. The show was nominated for 12 awards and is the winner of four, including People's Choice Award, Critic's Choice Award, Television Critics Association Awards, and 68th Primetime Television Emmy Award. I watched like 12 episodes in 2 days! On that note, I am going to sign off and make this a quick one. Have a fabulous day! -E xoxo | Tanya's Daily Scoop |
