My Grateful Recovery
Sorry for being MIA yesterday.
I had quite a night Friday.
After dropping off Gianna at her dance and stopping for an acai bowl, Kelsey and I settled into an evening of watching My Fair Lady - the classic starring Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison.
Thank God Gianna had a ride home from the dance, because the next few hours were not pretty. Around 10 or so, I became pretty sick with a terrible stomach ache. Within the next hour, it had moved to the next step and it was a full-fledged stomach virus, for which I'll spare you the details.
By around 1:30AM, the abdominal pains were so awful, that I decided to go to the hospital. Considering that I was unable to drive myself, I decided to call an ambulance - the best decision I could have made.
Now, of course, I had to leave the girls home alone, but since they were pretty much sleeping anyway, I figured they'd be just fine.
The whole hospital experience was really great - the police escorted the ambulance to the hospital, the EMT tech was fabulous, but of course, I was barely able to talk from the pain.
They weren't sure at first if it was something serious or just a very bad virus, but, after getting checked in, getting a bed and made as comfortable as was possible under the circumstances, I was still feeling terrible and getting sick.
The ambulance ride the check in and first two hours are sort of a blur because I was in such pain.
Finally around 3am, after having blood drawn and examined, I received some pain medication, which helped me sleep for a few hours.
The worst was over by around 7am and my dear friend Andrea was there for me to pick me up and take me home at 8am.
I have never (thank God) had to call an ambulance for myself, but the experience was great. The police were wonderful - they walked me out of the house and helped me lock up so the girls were safe.
And at the hospital, the nurses were amazing - a big shout out to Kelly and B.B. for all their TLC!!
Back home, I just passed out for about 7 hours, as I was still a bit dizzy from the morphine.
I managed to text Tanya and fill her in. I was getting prayers from the family, which apparently worked!!
So, here I am today, resting again.
My only regret is that Kelsey's birthday weekend got rather messed up, so we will have to make it up to her!!
I think I'm going to sign off - but I just wanted to check in and fill you in on why there was no blog yesterday. Apparently, Tanya had her own issues with wifi, so hopefully, she will be back today as well.
Be back tomorrow! -E
