Travel is the best EducationHowdy! Today is busy, busy, busy! I joined a new gym yesterday as I mentioned in September 15th Daily. Well, today was my first day. It is a "class - only" gym and each one is an hour long. Just what I like - in and out! It consists of a 30 minutes cardio and 30 minutes weight training. I did pretty good for the first day. My only limitation was my previously frozen shoulder which took me over a year in physical therapy and a cortisone shot to heal. So, I wasn't messing with that. But, the trainer was terrific and gave me alternative ways to work out. The way I see it - at 3 times a week - I'll either be a total sexy babe in a month, or dead. LOL I ran home after an 8:15am class and then to the school for the Scholastic Book Fair, as Gianna's class was attending today. I got hit up for $100 worth of books, but with 21 book reports due this school year, I figured it was money well spent. Since her social studies class this year will focus on the United States, Mexico and Canada, I encouraged her to get some non-fiction books about these locations. I'm going to get some travel videos about these destinations as well to round out her studies in class. It makes me really sad that we had to back out of the Canadian Winter Carnival trip in February. How perfect would that have dovetailed with her social studies focus this year! Oh well, there is always next year!! The big project this year in social studies will be about a specific state. Considering our Cousins' road trip to New Mexico, I asked her teacher if Gianna can be assigned her report on the state of New Mexico. She said that would be fine. She actually said that combining the real experience with the project makes it better. I love that our travel this year will gel so nicely with Gianna's school work! I really enjoyed this article 5 Benefits of Traveling Kids. You know Tanya and my perspective on taking our kids all ver the world - see what some others say! I just think that seeing the world is the best education! We'd love to hear all about the trips you have ever taken with your children! My kids absolutely loved Ireland, when asked about their favorite foreign country!!! Just a reminder that today is Travelin' Tuesday - Part 13 of our New Mexico Road Trip - don't forget to catch it! 17 days and counting!! | New birth, Old friends, and Fun places! It's Travelin' Tuesday! If you love travel as much as we do, then this is probably one of your favorite feature days - as we point our all of the new steps taken toward our next upcoming trip! And on this particular occasion it happens to be our New Mexico Road Trip! We can't wait! The kids were just asking all about it last night, they wanted all of the detail. Dominic really enjoys road-trips, and Cosette not so much... But I feel that we've balanced this trip out quite well between on the road time, exploring time, and relaxing time! Our portion of the trip starts 2 weeks from today, is 2 weeks long, and a ton of miles! I gotta say that I am totally jealous of Elisa hitting the gym! I definitely get jealous about certain workouts when I haven't been working out myself :-/ Way to go cuz!! I really do need to start conditioning ASAP! I have a Gladiator Mud Run that is coming up at the end of next month and haven't really put much recent effort into my training. Boo me! Luckily I've always been very athletic and a little training goes a long way. Muscle memory is such an awesome thing! Plus with all of my activities, I guess I still get more exercise than I sometimes realize. Just feel quite lazy though, when I'm not burning it out at the gym! Thank you Elisa for the motivation! Tomorrow it shall be. Today is too busy and it's gonna be too hot (AGAIN) to even think, let alone exercise. We're about to head to the stables for Cosette's Horseback Riding lesson. I hope that since we are doing a morning slot, that it won't already be too HOT!!! After that I've got a bunch of meal planning and shopping to do, I've gotta finally buy Dave's flight/s for Albuquerque, and Dominic has 2 classes later on this evening. A few things I'll mention to catch you up on yesterday: Our (apparently fertile) Doves had another egg hatch, and we have a new itty bitty tiny baby Dove chick! I just found out that an old friend of mine is in town and working the Katy Perry 'Prismatic World Tour' concert that we will be at tomorrow night! We're trying to figure out when the best time is for us to get together and hang out! Dave B. broke his tooth while eating dinner last night! Ugh - hate that!!! Oh well, that's the scoop! Don't forget to check back here later for part 13 of our New Mexico Road Trip Blog! And then again tomorrow for some more scoop on the Daily! Dream on, -T |
