A FUNDAY in Texas RECAP
GREETINGS from Dallas!
Yesterday was spent/split in both Amarillo and Dallas, Texas.
We started the day in Amarillo and while there really isn't much to see or do, there is one roadside attraction that cannot be missed... Unless you happen to be no where near Amarillo. It is Cadillac Ranch. And by all accounts I thought that this would be one that I would go through life without seeing in person... But when our drive from Kingman and Flagstaff (the day before) had come to an end and the accommodations that I had booked happened to be in Amarillo, I all of a sudden remembered... Isn't Cadillac Ranch right around here in these parts?! (Ya see how I chose to use some country slang in there? LOL) And sure enough it was. So although it might have meant the slightest bit of backtracking. It also meant not missing one of the most FAMOUS ROADSIDE ATTRACTIONS that the USA has to offer!!! I'll call this series FUN at CADILLAC RANCH -
Now go figure that I am on the road again...now heading to New Orleans!
However...someone (that'd be me) forgot to charge the laptop last night and now my battery is almost DEAD. And I still have so much more to share. Including my visit to Globe Life Park - current home to the Texas Rangers. I say current home because this is actually the last season that the Rangers are playing at this stadium. A new ballpark is being built right across the parking lot. This was my first visit to this stadium - my 27th stadium in my quest to see all 30 MLB BallParks/Stadiums! Okaaaay and last but certainly not least is wishing my dear little cousin Kelsey a most Happy Birthday! I'll be back just as soon as I can, -Travelin' Tanya |
A Special 13th Birthday and Broadway Bust
Hey there and Happy Saturday.
Hard to believe but my "baby" is 13 years old today!! How does time go so fast?!? It feels like yesterday that my little Kelsey was just born.
And here is my girl with her big city today on her 13th Birthday heading into the city on the train!!!
Last week, as you may remember, we went into NYC to TKTS in Times Square and bought tickets to Chicago (on Broadway) which was in honor of Kelsey's birthday.
However, the number one choice was Waitress, which, unfortunately, was sold out. SOOOOO... we three gals decided to give it a shot AGAIN, this week. That's right! This week, we actually got on a super early train into Manhattan so that we could arrive to Times Square in plenty of time to et up to the TKTS window as one of the first! We managed to catch a 7:29 AM train, arrive into NYC by 8:15, make our way to TKTS by 8:35 after a leisurely walk uptown to Times Square. Considering we had over an hour (thank goodness) before the windows opened for ticket sales, we were convinced that we'd secure tickets to Waitress.
So by 10AM, the list was up and we began walking up to the window. So, what did we see? I should say, what didn't we see?
WAITRESS WAS NOT ON THE LIST!!! No way! We three were so disappointed. It was the last weekend that YouTuber, Colleen Ballinger was starring in the show. Well, my kids were very good sports about it. I asked if they would like to choose another show, but they said that they preferred to just wait until February to see West Side Story when it returns to the Broadway stage. So, off we went, (after a brief stop at Starbucks), back to Penn Station to head back home to Long Island. (insert sigh). After we got back home, we all spent several hours eating our take-out paninis doing what she loves best --- watching GLEE!! After all, it's her birthday! Well, let me get back to my girlies and our day together!! -Travelin' Elisa xoxo |
