Friends, Food and Horses, Oh My!Hello! I don't know about you, but I'm dying to hear about whether or not Tanya found a good cup of tea yesterday!! I am a total tea lover and drinker. I love trying new flavors - particularly, herbals. So, Tanya - what did you find yesterday?? Here we are again at Saturday and the kids start their first full day day of the school year of horseback riding. They were so excited to go to the barn today to see their horses, get back in the riding arena and see their East End friend Sarah! Whle they are riding today, I'll be catching up with Lisa for breakfast. We haven't seen each other since before my Italy trip, so it will be a fun morning of playing catch-up. And where do you think we ended up eating today? Well, you know it had to be one of my faves in Westhampton - yup - you guessed it - Cafe Mambo!! (Did you catch the story about Cafe Mambo in Foodie Friday yesterday?) Last night, I had a very mellow but fun dinner with my friend Denise. We stayed local in Garden City at Revel. This new trendy restaurant on Franklin Avenue has a wonderful eclectic atmosphere, with comfortable seating and a funky bar, which is the focal point when you enter. Now, Denise is a strict vegetarian, whereas I'm a "mostly" vegetarian, so although the menu for this funky joint is mostly meat and seafood, we did manage to have some great vegetarian items off the menu. We started off by sharing two appetizers -- Roasted Brussell Sprouts with Cherries, Juniper Honey and Pecorino AND Roasted Heirloom Beet Salad with Watercress, Walnuts, Blue Cheese and Pickled Peaches. For our entree, we both ordered the same thing - the Ricotta & English Pea Ravioli. It was all so dee-lish!! We were both too full for dessert. However, we discussed the merits of a "Travelin' Cousins Reality Show." So, stay tuned for more on that idea! Tomorrow, the food fest continues! We are headed to the Ferragosto 2014 on Arthur Avenue in Little Italy, The Bronx. It is from 12noon to 6pm if you are game for some great Italian food and a fun festival! I can't wait to take pictures and tell you all about the edible delights!!! Until then, enjoy your weekend! -E | Disco Balls anyone? It's the weekend!! Any exciting plans going on out there? Our Saturday is gonna be filled with friends, fun times, and lots of laughs!! Hehehe Going to visit some friends down in San Diego for a "RETRO" house warming party this evening... As the invitation states: "We're not expecting anyone to dress up, but that would be REALLY GROOVY if you did!" So we are gonna take this to the next level and get "GROOVY" in our dress-up! I know that Dave B. and Dominic are looking very forward to being the silly boys that they truly are! (Not sure what Cosette is going to dress up as yet.) And although it would be a great night to stay over in San Diego, I have a 9a-4p board meeting for the IPC tomorrow. UGH! So basically my weekend is just TODAY! Starting off the today at Green Bliss Cafe with our occasional Saturday morning treat of freshly baked Cinnamon Rolls and coffee. The ooey gooey yummy soft and chewy vegan cinnamon rolls are made from *Life Is Sweet Bake Shop, and delivered to the cafe every weekend! As for me, this morning I'll have my favorite Acai Bowl. So far it is the BEST Acai Bowl that I've had anywhere!! *Life Is Sweet Bake Shop currently has a Living Social Deal of 50% off of a dozen cupcakes! I've ordered a few cakes from this bake shop (even for my birthday), and each one has been absolutely wonderful! So if you are in Orange County CA, I definitely recommend you trying out this awesome deal! The remainder of my day will be spent taking Dominic to class, and perhaps running to a store or two. P.S. Regarding yesterday's tea time - we couldn't find any decent tea shop that I was happy with, so we ended up at Whole Foods and taking the tea to go - hooked on English Breakfast, and eager to find a proper tea shop! P.P.S. I would luv to be in NY today and go to the Fest with Elisa - it's definitely my kind of thing! I'll be with her in spirit! Back here tomorrow, with all of your updates. Have a GROOVY Saturday! -T |
