Route 66 - The Weather Conditions Throughout the Year
Welcome to Monday!!!
Before I go any further, wanted to bring you up to date on my schedule and some sudden changed. I will unfortunately, have to cancel my trip to Las Vegas this week, to meet my dear cousins and celebrate Cosette's 18th Birthday. My life has been in such flux the past two years since my divorce. Trying to sell my home, having financial constraints and of course, my dear father's death this past summer. And now, having found a lovely family to buy my home and a new house with which I plan to buy, there are numerous timing issues and obligations that need to be taken care of to get through two closings and a move. Me and my gang were heartbroken at having to cancel this trip. The Las Vegas weekend trip was also going to be a fun way to celebrate my birthday as well since it falls a few days after Cosette's. We will plan some fun festivities this coming summer when Tanya and gang visit New York!!
Yesterday was my nephew Julian's Confirmation and the family enjoyed a very deelish dinner out!
Of course, the cake was not vegan but it certainly looks yummy as ever!!! Moving right along --- another Monday and another Guest Blog to share with you!! This week, we have something extra special for all of you road trippin' loving travelers! If you have ever thought about driving cross-country between Illinois to California in the USA, you are probably aware that the infamous Route 66 is the way to go. As the song written by Chuck Berry says, If you ever plan to motor west Travel my way, take the highway that is best Get your kicks on route sixty-six It winds from Chicago to L.A. More than two thousand miles all the way During this ride, did you know you will travel through numerous climate zones - six in all - and a variety of weather patterns depending on the time of year of your trip. Let's take a look... Route 66 - The Weather Conditions Throughout the Year
Route 66 is the quintessential road trip in the U.S. The historic route crosses 8 states and spans a total of 2,400 miles that begin at Chicago and ends at Santa Monica. You'll be able to see plenty of natural landscapes, including grasslands, mountains, plains, deserts and experience around 6 climate zones that range from Mediterranean to alpine and desert climates, too.
Most Route 66 goers choose months between May to late September, which is arguably the best timeframe to experience the wonderful vistas. Moreover, it's the time most people and their families are available, as there won't be any school and the weather is at its best. If you have young ones or plan to ride by motorcycle, it's best to avoid winter months, e.g., mid-February to mid-November as you're more likely to encounter snow and frozen roads, which can put a damper in your plans. Moreover, some roads become impassable, most notably the mountain roads of New Mexico, Arizona and California. Also, some of the must-see attractions along Route 66 will be closed or unavailable during these months. At best, they may have reduced hours, which won't help at all if you're looking to maximize your road trip. As with any vacation plan, consider going during peak season, when the weather is perfect and there's no danger of frost, strong winds or freezing weather. Read more... Back atcha tomorrow!!
