New week, New island!

Aloha and GREETINGS from Kauai!

We’ve island hopped and are now on the “Garden Isle”. 

It was so difficult to say “until next time Maui!” but certainly not because we weren’t looking forward to visiting Kauai, just because we had such a great time on Maui and really do luv it there.

But of course we will be back…
And maybe next time Dave will be able to stay longer, maybe even Elisa and the girls will join us!!

Since we had an afternoon flight, there was still plenty of time to enjoy our last partial day on the "Valley Isle".

I decided that we were gonna take a ride...
I hadn't been out to Wailea since my very first visit to Maui - back in 1994!

And on the way, we drove through Kihei, on the southwest shore. 
On my first visit I had roller bladed over there from Wailea (since I was too young to rent a car and preferred exercise to taxis - which is still the case).

Anyhow, I was curious to see what it looked like these days...
While although back in Hawaii's history Kihei was once a regular destination for sojourning Hawaiian royalty...

Verdict was in and in Cosette's words "Why would anyone stay over here?!" this is not because it's dumpy or anything like that (I mean come on on - it's STILL Maui).
But it was more like "the burbs of Maui" and just like "the burbs" it was BORING and we and NOT FANS of the BORING.
That plus we are probably a bit spoiled.

​But oh well, we know what we like.
Makes life much easier than not knowing what our preferences are!

After our stop in Kihei, and showing the kids the resort I stayed at in Wailea (the Fairmont Kea Lani - Amazing), we headed to Makena State Beach for some black sand fun
- although if you ask me, it was more like dark brown sand...but whatevs

We then headed off to the airport.
I was thoroughly frustrated that somehow my reserved seats had now turned to seat requests on the boarding passes and once we had boarded the place and found our row...

We were in the very last row!
 
While, I like being in the back of the aircraft - the safest seats are in the back of the plane.
And I really don't mind not having anyone behind me - one of the most annoying passenger behaviors is
“The Rear Seat Kicker”! 
But I do prefer to be able to recline! UGH
​Thank goodness this was only a 45 minute flight.

Once we landed on Kauai, and picked up our rental we were off!
We tossed around the idea of going to Lydgate Beach Park, but decided that we should just go pick up the supplies needed for our stay, and then go to the pool at the new resort!

Today will be full of fun as we go and check out the annual Coconut Festival!

Not So Sunny Sunday

Hey there!!

Hoping your weekend has been great one so far!

I've been enjoying mine. ​ I can't tell you how wonderful it was waking up today when I was done sleeping.  No alarm! No place to be! 
Just woke up all on my own!

I apologize for not having my 4 videos up in time for when the Daily Scoop gets emailed.  I had such internet problems out East in Manorville yesterday  But, they are up on yesterday's post now so here's a link to that page if you are interested in seeing my little vlogs!! (CLICK HERE)

Gianna and Kelsey tacking All-Star

Yesterday was a great day at the barn.  Had such a blast video taping, watching the girls and even learning a bit!!

Kelsey jumped 1 foot 9 inches again and this time I caught it on video!!

So, here's my deal for today.  I'll be heading over to the mall to the Apple Store, which I never made it to yesterday.  I was totally zonked when I got back home from the barn.

I need to do some research on the MacBook Pro, which I will need for editing videos moving forward.  I'll let you know what I decide!!

My next stop will be the grocery store for snacks and lunch for the week for the girls.  Lastly, I'll be heading over for a much-needed mani-pedi later in the day.  One nail already broke - UGH!!! 9 long nails and one stubby one!

Travel-wise, I've been thinking about how me and Tanya need to chat about upcoming road trips.  
I LOVE our road trips and as of right now, I don't have anything on my calendar for me and my cuz and the kiddies to do together.

That's something Tanya and I need to discuss when she is back from Hawaii.  In any case, being the self-proclaimed fashionista that I like to think of myself as, it dawned on me that just because you on a road trip, doesn't mean it's not possible to be stylish!

Here are my Top 10 Ways to Stay Stylish on a Road Trip:

1. Black Leggings
Nothing is better for comfort, dress-up or dress-down than a pair of black leggings!
2. Stylish Walking & Hiking Shoes
With all the casual sneakers (high-top and regular) available today, footwear can set the trend for style!  I love my Palladium high tops (and Tanya has a pair too!!), but there are so many other fashion conscious casual walking and hiking shoes available in a variety of colors and patterns, that it's possible to make a fashion statement on the road!
3. Ballet Flats
If it's not a day of hiking, ballet flats can easily "dress up" your leggings but still allow for comfort while driving and walking.
4. Sunglasses
I never travel with less than 2 pairs - sometimes 3 pairs of sunglasses.  Depending on the colors you are wearing, sunglasses are the perfect accessory.
According to Popsugar,  mirrored lenses, floral-embellished frames, and round styles to complement the season's biggest retro trends. 

5. Jewelry
Who says just because you are on a casual road trip that you cannot accessorize!  Costume jewelry like fun earrings or a bracelet with a little bling or even a great necklace can add the right pizzazz to your road trippin' look.
6. Large handbag
For all those necessary essentials, a big, bold handbag always says fashion.
7. Hair up
Us girls know that hair is one of our best accessories.  When put up in a funky bun or a fun pony tail, it gives a whole new look.  Be creative - use fun hair piece accessories and funky clips and scrunchies.
8. Layers
Not only is this practical for varying temperatures throughout the day, but cute tanks layered with tee shirts or plaid shirts always works for style.  This season is showing lots of plaids shirts. Check out Francesca's button downs.

9. Manicure
Anyone that knows me and Tanya, know that our nails are always done!  There is nothing that finishes off your look like well manicured fingers.  Whether short or long, it says style and makes you look feminine regardless of what you are wearing.
10. Make up
Girls, no one says you have to do your make-up as if you are heading out for a night on the town.  But, a tinted moisturizer or light foundation coupled with some bronzer, eyeliner, mascara and lip gloss goes a long way.  Not to mention you will be ready for any and all photo ops looking your best. Have fun with different eyeshadows too to match your look!  Me and Tanya always do!!
