BRAND BALLOT'S TOP 100 MOM BLOGS FOR 2018!!
Heading to Bronx Museum of the Arts
Hello, Hello!! Getting an early start today! Well, I should preface that with, "Earlier" start. I usually get things going around 6:30am each day in order to get breakfast going for the girls and my little Punkin, straighten the bedroom and get out the door by 7:30 to drop both kids off at school.
However, today I've got an extra special day planned with a trip up to the Bronx to visit The Bronx Museum of the Arts, so my day began even earlier.
Although I'll be perusing the entire museum, I'm most curious to see two exhibits in particular - Manuel Mendive: Nature Spirit and Body and Christopher K. Ho: Aloha to the World at the Don Ho Terrace.
Both of these are on display this week, however, the Manuel Mendive exhibit will be closing next week on November 4th, with closing ceremonies on that day. The Christopher K. Ho exhibit will go until January 6, 2019.
Looking forward to my visit today and I'll be featuring all the details in my article featured in ThisIsTheBronx.info this Friday.
And lest we forget - today is Halloween!!!
The kids will be headed off to school this morning out of their usual school uniforms and in costume. Well, one child anyway - Kelsey did not want to dress up - she really doesn't have much spirit today.
In any case, Gianna will be going as a 1970's Flower Power girl. She also has not one, but two parties tonight, to which she was invited. So, she will be having a busy evening. Not sure if you caught Tanya's article yesterday, 18 Fun Facts You NEVER Knew About Halloween. For instance... Did you know...Halloween is one of the oldest celebrations in the world, dating back over 2000 years to the time of the Celts. CLICK HERE to read all 18 Fun Facts. More Local Travel for the Week... Both girls are off from school tomorrow as it's All Saint's Day. We have another lovely day planned to visit Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn with Travein' Cosuins' Guest Blogger, Karla Guerra. We've got a full day of fun and good eats planned!! You can be sure I'll be giving you the full scoop, along with photos, on Friday! Ok - gotta run! Have a Spooktacular Day!!! -Travelin' Elisa xoxo |
A Windy Wednesday
BOO!
Happy Halloween to you!
We aren't much for being scared or doing the scaring around here. But we all love dressing up (that is except for my mom).
The plan is to go out with the nieces and chaperone them around the neighborhood with the rest of the fam bam while all dressed in various fun costumes! I'm looking forward to all of the fun and of course I'll be taking lots of pictures to share with you right here in tomorrow's daily scoop. Then I'll be heading out of town tomorrow and off to Las Vegas, where I'll be meeting up with my friend Jodie. So much to do before I leave and the pressure is really on because once I get back I will only have 3 very full days before we depart for China! Yesterday we were sure to get over to the stables for a nice visit with dear Dream.
But then when we arrived back home there was a very sad situation. Our little family Chihuahua 'Kisses' who is nearly 17 years old had a stroke and was seemingly almost dead, barely breathing while being gently pet, loved and comforted by my mom.
I rushed over and immediately got choked up and my eyes filled to the brim with tears. The thought of losing this little one was bringing me such sorrow and pain. Kisses came into the family as my sister Brigitte's wee little pup, when my little sister was a mere 10 years old. She was so tiny that she could fit into the palm of our hand. A sweet and lovable little thing.
Cosette only being a few months old at the time Kisses entered into this world, they would become best of buddies and Kisses would soon become Cosette's whole world! They were truly inseparable.
All of these memories and more came rushing within me and I just could not help but cry at the thought of losing this little one and having to say good bye. My tears would fall and drop onto her little head as she rested, at any moment ready to take her last breath. I had only stopped home to drop off groceries and then run back out to finish my day's errands, appointments and chores. Sadly and with a tear stained face I had to leave and say what I thought would be my last "Good Bye". I couldn't think straight, but had no choice but to get on with my day. I heard no report from home throughout the day and had made the assumption that Kisses must have past away. Hours upon hours and hours later when I returned back home. I returned to a miracle of hearing that Kisses was making a recovery!!! She was not only breathing normally, but able to prop herself upright to sit and was actually eating (soft foods) and drinking on her own!!!
She is looking even a bit stronger as of this morning.
And although I know her time will come, I think this is a good lesson that time with loved ones is precious and I will repeat the wise words that Elisa said to me yesterday after hearing the sad news... "It's never long enough" Life is a miracle in itself. Don't waste it. -Travelin' Tanya |
