New York City Vacay: Day 2Good day from the Big Apple!! This is the second day of my sisters excursion to Manhattan. Yesterday was a very impromptu day with no formal plans and it was packed with superb eats, wonderful friends and marvelous entertainment! Neither Danielle or I were in a rush to get up and moving yesterday morning, but we managed to be out of the hotel by 10:45. We were motivated by serious hunger! We decided to be adventurous and explore the immediate area of Hell's Kitchen where our hotel was located. Walking east, we found a number of restaurants, unfortunately, most did not start serving lunch until 11:30. We stumbled upon the cutest, tiny eatery called The Marshal. The menu included a creative selection of "farm to table" offerings, prepared in a brick oven. Being famished, I dug in like a starving dog before taking photos of these incredible dishes! Danielle and I shared their Butternut Squash Grilled Cheese (DELISH!) and three side dishes (Sweet Potato and Kale au gratin, Roasted Peach half with brown sugar and Vegetable Crusted Cauliflower with Cheddar). This little establishment founded in 2013 was a great find. Feeling extremely full, we decided to take a walk over towards Time Square and the theatre district in hopes of securing tickets to a matinee. We lucked out with two box seats to It's Only A Play starting Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick and Stockard Channing. It was entertaining, and the cast was terrific! After the show, the cast took up a collection for Broadway Cares and held an auctioned off a selfie with the cast. There were three high bidders of $1400, $1400 and $1500 respectively. We nabbed a shot of the cast conducting the auction after the show. We ended the day with a scrumptious dinner at Taboon, also in Hell's Kitchen, a few blocks from our hotel. I'll be giving the full low-down and review of Taboon on Foodie Friday this week. Our friend Cheryl (featured in Elisa's Throwback China Trip Adventure series) drove in from New Jersey making it a threesome for this delectable meal. Lots of laughs and reminiscing! The three of us had a late night drink at the rooftop bar, which had an awesome view of the New York skyline!! Just breathtaking! We'll be headed home later today. No plans yet, but I'm sure it will include some hearty laughs and tasty food! No visit would be complete without a selfie with the hotel front desk crew at Ink 48 Hotel!!! Thanks for all your help and restaurant suggestions, Stephen!! I cannot thank you, our fans, enough for moving us right up the list of favorite blogs by voting each day!! It's just one click each day, which apparently you are doing for us!! ---------------------------------->>>>>>> It's Tanya's turn for Throwback Thursday today, which I hope you enjoy! Now, if you are a loyal follower, then you'd know that yesterday was Where To Go Wednesday - Well, I was so enthralled by one of my listings (Rise of the Jack-O-Lanterns), that I had to get tickets ASAP! I managed to squeeze it into our busy weekend schedule and we are going to walk among the 5,000 professionally designed pumpkin works of art on Sunday evening! Will you be joining me there? So, most of the rest of my day was spent at the stables, watching Cosette as she took her lesson and was horse back riding. While she was out there was working hard and enjoying herself, I managed to continue booking tours for the soon upcoming trip to Iceland! If you didn't already know it or guess it, I'm just super excited about this upcoming adventure! Then upon returning back home, we knew that the plan was to take all 4 of the kiddies (Dominic, Cosette, Mika, and Chaplin) on a mini family outing of 9 (My mom, Jet, Andrew, Dave B, Myself, Dominic, Cosette, Mika, and Chaplin) to the Pumpkin Patch, before having to take Dominic to his Wednesday night class. I packed my camera, and was all set to get some really cute and festive photos. Yet once we arrived and I was ready to snap my first shot I noticed that my battery was dead. UGH Totally bummed. And the only other camera I had with me was my phone - so it was gonna have to do. Which is completely lame, especially since I can quite regularly be found with several cameras hanging around my neck and dangling from my wrists! The kids had fun, and were definitely all tired out be the time they got home. Today will be another horsey type of day for us, as I take Cosette, Jet, and Mika to the other horse stables (the one where Jet and Cosette have their horses). Then later this evening Dominic will be dressing up in costume and heading to one of his classes, where they will have a shortened class and a Halloween Pot-Luck (I never know what to bring to these things!) But it should be fun or funny to see everybody in their costumes! I'll be sure to have a camera with a charged battery with me! Tomorrow is of course Halloween and Foodie Friday! What a fun day that'll be! The food in NYC is definitely some of the best you'll find! We always go on a food-a-thon when we are there! And Elisa has been on a sister foodie trip, trying out all sorts of yummy delights (and sending me pictures which I am drooling over)! I have a feeling that she is planning on sharing some of these great finds with all of us tomorrow for her turn at FF! I've seen pictures and I still can't wait!!! Just talking about it is making me hungry! I'm gonna go grab a bite. Hope you have a splendid day, and hope to see you tomorrow! -T |
