Bringin' on the Halloween FestivitiesHowdy! Having a good weekend, I hope! This weekend has been full of Halloween fun and festivities! The barn where the girls ride, Dream Come True Farm, had two days of activities for the kids. Yesterday was the annual Halloween Parade where the kids get to dress up and also dress up their horses. Kelsey was adorable as Minnie Mouse, with her horse, Ace, donned in his Mickey Mouse ears! I was very impressed with the creativity of these kids! One of my favorite costumes was Dr. Suess's "Thing 1 & Thing 2" with their horse counterparts, Horse 1 and Horse 2. Very clever! The "Hula" girl and horse was absolutely charming; as was our little Fairy and her Fairy horse! Gianna worked so hard on her costume for All-Star. She was going to make them both cats. She and her dad painstakingly made cat ears for both her and for All-Star. But, unfortunately, our All-Star was a bit of a "fraidy cat" and would not let anyone get near him with those huge horse-size cat ears. So, instead, they were able to get a small pair of mouse ears on him and they went as "Cat and Mouse." The owners of Dream Come True Farm, Vito and Concetta are just so dedicated to creating a real sense of family between all the kids. My kids have truly flourished in the past two years. Today is actually going to be a blast. Vito and Concetta are hosting a Halloween Festival and Craft Fair at the barn. There will be pizza and drinks, face painting, craft tables, raffles and lots more! Here we are with my friend Denise and her family, who I'm thrilled to say, joined us for today's event! JSYK, I managed to get quite a bit done with the booking our February Florida Trip over the past few days. We will be traveling to the Sunshine state during the kids' winter break to visit the Clearwater Marine Mammal Aquarium (of A Dolphin Tale fame), as well as Disney World and Universal Studios. I have hopes that we will also go to LegoLand as well. This is going to be our "Theme Park Vacay." The kids have been begging us to go back to Disney and so, I can't tell you how excited they are now that's it's officially booked and on the calendar! More about my itinerary on Travelin' Tuesday this week! Here's to hopin' your Sunday is the best day possible! See ya back here tomorrow for the start of a brand new week! -E When witches go riding, | Gladiator UpdateWell, today I woke up with a little soreness from yesterday's workout! I can honestly say that I luv that feeling! But, I am kinda walking around like Frankenstein because my calves are definitely stiff. If you've been keeping up with us, Dominic and I did the Gladiator Mud Rock n Roll Run yesterday full of 17 disclosed obstacles + 1 mystery obstacle! While I'm not a fan of running or mud, I asked myself what the heck am I doing here? Oh yea, I like obstacles! While we only did the 5k, we had a super fun time and really can't wait to do the next 10k obstacle course that comes our way! Next time I might even train for it and get more than 4 hours of sleep! In case you were wondering... YES we got plenty dirty, but it was a blast!!! We had our little entourage of 7 watching us the best they could, and as 4 of them had the opportunity to join from the get go - they all chickened out. (The other 3 were under in minimum age.) But as they all saw us commit, crush and conquer the course, they watched in envy, wishing that they could be along side us & eager for the next event that they will be given the opportunity to participate in! In beast-mode the rest of us scaled walls, slithered through troughs of mud, climbed, ran, jumped, and felt the burn of our quads as well the baking of sun! It was hot and we were mighty thirsty - as the event failed to provide refreshment stations to accommodate the number of participants that they had! #FAIL COMING SOON: I'll be doing a full report on all of the activities! With LOTS more pictures!!! And since it was a long day even Cosette was pooped by the time we got home. She immediately went up stairs and collapsed fast asleep for almost the entire night - she woke up briefly to eat dinner! Before cooking dinner for the crew, Dave B, Dominic, and I went to The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, to go have some tea. We were planning on going to the bookstore, but put that off until today. My knees were pretty sore and exhausted by the night's end. As I had completed even the obstacles that I said I couldn't (because of my previous knee injuries). If I'm it in, I'm in it! Unlike some other participants who cheated their way along...where's the accomplishment in that??? Today my sister Jet is filming a scene for her short film that Dominic is starring in and that Dave B will be featured in....dressed in drag!!! I'm definitely gonna get a good laugh outta this!!! This afternoon, we'll hit a few stores, including the bookstore (gonna see if I can find a book on the Azores). Thinking we might also go to the movies later tonight. I'll be sure and let you know. Hope you are having a great weekend! Please continue to VOTE for us! And I'll cya tomorrow, -T |
