I was thinking about going to see another movie - The Martian with Matt Damon - heard great reviews about this one! But we decided to put it off until next weekend.
Interesting thing I found out though, is that the movie has the same cinematographer as 'The Walk' (which we just saw on Friday night) 'Dariusz Wolski'! Well, I'll let you know what I think about this movie next week...
Yesterday not only was National Food Day and National Make a Difference Day, but here at Travelin' Cousins it was also Shoppin' Saturdayand it was a fun filled day (for this shopaholic - I hope it was as fun for Dave and Cosette too - Dominic opted to stay home).
Anyhow we went in search of ideas and hopefully purchases for - an upcoming Photo Shoot, Dominic's Birthday, Mika's Birthday, to pick up an online placed order for Cosette and of course Christmas shopping!
Well, we weren't so successful on a number of different fronts.... But we did manage to find the wardrobe for the Photo Shoot - which I'm stoked about and is a big relief!
And what happens every year at Christmas time when you are out shopping???
You find things for yourself!
Although it didn't happen right away (in and out of several stores empty-handed) but then I totally lucked out and grabbed a few lovely items:
2 long flowing skirts and a beautiful vintage style necklace from Banana Republic (an old favorite), a fun denim dress from a boutique store, a sexy pair of Low-Rise Metallic Power Skinny Jeans in Radiant Indigo Wash from Guess (another old favorite) and a cardigan sweater (for the photo shoot) from H&M.
Perfect for the photo shoot.
And while I wanted to share with you a few pictures of my finds - I can't seem to find most of the pictures online and didn't take any of my own. Boo.
Oh well..next time.
The rest of our day we did manage the yummy breakfast at Freesoul Caffe that I had mentioned.
And then the Veggie Grill fundraiser that the IPC was having for dinner.. Where I was so happy that my friend and great supporter of the kids choir - Chhai showed up for, some old friends that I haven't seem in years, as well as current choir and members of the Board of Director. The flow of business and guests was pretty steady throughout the night - so I hope that we raised the group a good amount of dough!
The kids, Chhai, and Dave
Dominic tried the new Bad to the Bun Burger
The kids favorite "hacked" menu item!
The kids and their friend Brianna
We stayed at the Veggie Grill socializing for hours, soooo by the time we got home you'll never believe this - but I (who only ordered a salad) was STARVING - I should've ordered more!!
And that was pretty much it for yesterday. Today, we will be heading to REI and the rest of the day is kinda a blank slate!
So I'll fill you in on the all of the SCOOP in tomorrows Daily!
I hope that you guys are already having a great weekend and continue to have a terrific one!
See ya later, -T
Elisa's Daily Scoop NEXT TRIP DEPARTS IN: 18 DAYS
Well, not exactly the sunny kind of Sundays we've been having the past few weeks. Sometimes the rain can be soothing and relaxing too.
Today we'll be celebrating my sister's birthday with a family dinner. So, I was thinking about the one thing that most people do at some point to celebrate their birthdays...go out to eat.
Even if there is a party, or family gathering at home, most of us, will have one night or day that they go out. That got me thinking further and I thought what could be better than going out for a fun meal --- getting that meal or part of the meal for FREE!!!
Everyone loves a freebie, so why not have something complementary to eat on your special day!!
In fact, many restaurants extend the freebie to the entire birthday month if you are signed up for their E-Club.
Thanks to the folks at Urban Tastebud, they have compiled a list of 400+ Restaurants that offer something free for the birthday person!!
Here are my Top 54 Restaurant Picks for Free Birthday Food (with Links to their E-Clubs). For the entire Urban Tastebud listing, CLICK HERE.
