Birthday Shout out to Sister DanielleHappy Friday to ya!! How are you today? Today my sister Danielle is celebrating her birthday. We've been celebrating lots of cousin birthday this month! If you have read Our Story, you are aware that Danielle is the one out of all of cousins who is responsible for reuniting our family after more than 30 years! And while she is not as obsessed with travel as much as Tanya and myself, she deserves a huge thanks and place of honor on the Travelin' Cousins blog today! HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DANIELLE!!! MUCH LOVE BEING SENT YOUR WAY ON YOUR SPECIAL DAY! One thing I can tell you that Danielle loves as much as her traveling' sister and cousin is food!!! Being we are all from a big, Italian family, the love of cooking, eating and good eats is in all of our blood! That's why I know this Thanksgiving, the first one we have all shared together in over 3 decades, is going to be a special event and a definite eating fest!!! This is the perfect segue to one of my favorite features on this site, Foodie Friday. Tanya has a tasty story for you about the lunch we shared together in Tucson, Arizona earlier this month. If you like Mexican food, I know you will want to make a special note of Lovin' Spoonfuls for your next visit to the "Grand Canyon" state. As you may recall, I celebrated my big 5-0 last Thursday, and eight days later, my "baby" sister is celebrating her 46th. We have a special couple of days planned for a sister mini "vacay" in New York City this coming week! We try to do something fun and memorable every year in October for our birthdays and this year, while we originally had hoped to go to Boca Raton for a few days, decided in the end, to just stay local and enjoy all that the Big Apple has to offer. Our plans include a 3 night stay in a boutique hotel, with full spa services, which we plan to take full advantage. Dining out and catching a Broadway show are on our list as well! Can't wait to report live from Manhattan next week!! As for today, we'll be having a special birthday dinner locally here on Long Island later this evening. And, thank the good Lord, the rain has finally stopped!! Gonna be a sunny day! TGIF! -E | It's all about Food and Birthdays!!It's FRIDAY (insert Happy Dance here)! What a Great week it has been! I've been very productive and have continued to check things off of my to do lists - luv that feeling! Our ratings are doing great thanks to YOU! We are now #3 in our category! Woo to the Hoo!!! Please continue to vote for us, so that we can continue our quest to be NUMBER 1! Is anyone else celebrating a birthday today? So far, if you are keeping track, this is the third birthday so far for this month that we are celebrating! And next month we've got a few more coming our way! Isn't it so interesting how there are just some months that are filled with family birthdays?! And then during some other months there is a lull, or a break as I like to look at it. We have so many birthdays in Oct/Nov/Dec that it surely makes for a very hectic few months, especially with all the rest of the exciting festivities and events that happen during the tail end of the year! My birthday happens to be in March, and for our family it is a fairly quiet month for birthdays! Good thing...because I've always enjoyed not having too many other bdays right around mine. At a mere 4 years old, my cousin Jimmy was born on MY birthday, and that became our special day! I didn't want to share it with anyone else! When my sister Brigitte was born on Feb 21 - that was close enough for me! My sister Jet and brother Michael have birthdays that are 3 days apart! I was always so glad that it was her and not me. My family was all aware that I liked having a nice cushion around my birthday. And then around 7 years ago, Michael brought a sweet beautiful girl home for us to meet. This girl turned out to be my pseudo sister-in-law Liz and guess what... She has my birthday! (Well, I guess it's her's too.) I must admit that it really didn't bother me as much as I expected it would. And now every year that we all acknowledge and celebrate our birthdays; I realize just how much my dear "sweet" brother must love me and think I'm just the bomb and close to perfection! Because out of the 364 other birthdays to choose from to find the love of his life. He chose someone who had the highest potential to be just like his big sissy! Back to today - well as I mentioned earlier it is Foodie Friday and like Elisa said there is one thing that this family definitely has in common - the love of FOOD! So this is always one of my favorite days to drool over the computer as a look back and remember some good eats! I've gotta run, I need to go shopping and take care of some errands before taking the kids to rehearsal. And then...wait for it....wait for it....Tomorrow Dominic and I will be getting down and dirty as we Head to the Rose Bowl and compete in the GLADIATOR MUD RUN!!! Bet you can't wait to hear all about it! Well, I'll be back here tomorrow to fill you in on today's SCOOP and then catch up with me on Sunday as I give you the run down on just how brutal this event really is!!! Wishing you a wonderful weekend! Hope you make everyday count! -T |
