A Muddy Recap!

Good Day Folks!

Can you believe that as of yesterday we've been home for week! It sure doesn't seem like we were just in Hawaii... 
I guess it could be that in just this week time, we (Dominic, Dave and I) cycled in the Long Beach Marathon, had much fun at the Little Italy FESTA, celebrated Cosette's birthday, got down and dirty in the Gladiator competition
and much much more!

Ahhh a week in the life!

Well, I gotta say that I woke up a bit on the sore side this morning, nothing too bad, but I worked out about every muscle that I have yesterday! 

It was almost like the ultimate in Cross Fit, but not too much workout for the core. Guess I have a strong core - my core is definitely not sore.

Luckily it wasn't too hot out at the Rose Bowl and they corrected the lack of water situation (compared to last year's Dehydration Situation)!

This is where things start getting DIRTY. VERY VERY DIRTY! 

I guess you have to just embrace the mud - but just so you know...I hate getting dirty - as you can probably see in some of my expressions.    But I do love a fitness challenge and obstacle course, so if getting dirty is what it takes.    
Count me in!

One of the next challenges, was carrying each other piggyback style or else - BURPIES!
While I don't care much for Burpies, I care even less to QUIT. So I carried Cosette (yes my back is sore), and then she carried me (she plays this game with Dominic and he is heavier than I am - so needless to say - she was more fit for the occasion!)

By this time, we were finished with much of the distance in the course and had about 6 more obstacles (difficult ones) to go!

After we made it through the finish line it was time to get some of this GRIME off!

​We were so very happy to see Dr. Bronner's Shower Tank ready to wash us off!

Coming out a bit cleaner and with samples of Dr. Bronner's awesome all purpose/all natural suds!

Feeling a bit more fresh, and mighty hungry, we headed to Organix for some lunch.
I've been hearing about this place for some time now, as well as seeing all of the drool worthy pics on Instagram, but because of the limited hours and location, it's been tough to fit it into our schedule.

We actually attempted once on Father's Day of 2014 - but found without notice that they were closed. Boo.

So on the occasion of refueling after a morning of many calories being burnt, we went and found them open!
Yippee. And it was definitely worth it. The food was BOMB! 

And why stop there?!
We also headed for some wonderful vegan Froyo at Yoga-urt after lunch. After that we sat in a TON of traffic to get us home and take proper showers.

Well, although it's hard work - and I think we can work even HARDER.
We are all looking forward to our next Obstacle course, and if we get dirty - so what!

Today will be a bit different than yesterday, and we'll be heading to the mall and the movies, then a big Sunday dinner gathering at home with the fam bam - a tradition that I love and one that will forever last in my family!

Fall Sunday - lovin' it

Howdy!!  

Well, I woke up today so thrilled that it really felt like a Fall day!

So crisp and cool outside!

Yesterday was a great day too!!

I spent the full day out East on Long Island - first in Manorville at Dream Come True Farm, where my girls ride and then further out east to Hampton Bays, to the Feast of San Gennero.

So, let me tell you about our day at the barn!  It is truly the best way (in my humble opinion) to spend a Saturday.

I know lots of kids play sports and parents wind up hanging out for hours outside watching baseball or soccer or other activities.  But, for me, being at the barn all day surrounded by horses and watching my kids groom, tack and ride all day is the end all!

What makes it that much better is when the weather is beautiful! And yesterday was as good as they come!

Sunny, crisp, breezy - my favorite kind of weather! Sweater weather as I like to call it!

I managed to do my part by filming non-stop for Gianna so she could work on the Dream Come True Farm YouTube Channel.  Everyone is just so cooperative and enthusiastic, and although Gianna has taken the lead on this important project, it is truly a group effort when it comes to cooperation.

This week, everyone was decorating for Halloween for the big event being planned for the weekend of Oct. 30 - Nov. 1- "Long Island's Tastiest Food Truck Rodeo"  I'll be chatting more about this on Wednesday, when I feature Halloween Events around Long Island and NYC.

​And of course, there was lots of tacking and riding as well!

Later in the day, I headed over to Hampton Bays for the San Gennero feast.  It was pretty chilly there!  But, I was lovin' it!!

Lots and Lots of food!  A live band and rides for the kiddies!

I will tell you, I was pretty bushed when we finally got on the road to head home at 6pm.

I literally took a shower and passed out at 9pm!!

I know Tanya was having a blast yesterday as she and her gang were getting soaked in mud!!!

This travelin' cousin would not have quite enjoyed that! Check out her pictures and description of the day!!

Today, I'm planning to do a great deal of writing.  I have a number of stories I want to share with you as well!

I did manage to be productive this morning, doing both food shopping and booking my flights for Florida for Christmas.  This year, my mom and dad will be going down to their home in Boca Raton in November and staying straight through the Spring. 

So, I'll be taking the kiddies down there for the holiday and their vacation.  I'm excited because my friend Lisa and daughter Sarah will be in Florida as well!! Yay!  Fun times!
