Lookout for MUD

Happy Saturday!
Do you know what that means???

It's that time again!

We are pumped and ready to Rock 'N Roll...in the mud!!

We are heading out to the Famous Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California - the same place where Dominic and I (along with some friends) conquered our first Gladiator Race exactly 1 year ago!

And now we are about to start our third, along side Dave and Cosette who joined us in San Jose this past May for their first and our second experience getting into BEASTMODE for this event!

I'm bringing plenty of water just in case the conditions are anything like they were last October where the event had actually run out of water!

I know "How could they?!?!" 

​It was a Dehydration Situation (click link to read all about it).

But so far it does seem like the temps will be a bit cooler than what we experienced last year.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

And as far as yesterday went, I took Cosette to do a bit of shopping!

Cosette mostly got some camera accessories, and I was on the hunt for a specific style sweater to put an outfit together for a photo shoot - but I am having the most difficult time locating this darn sweater (both online and in the stores).
We'll be heading out the the mall this weekend and hopefully find what I'm looking for!
However, I did happen to find a really cute denim blouse today while we were out and about.  

It looks so much cuter on me!!

Then off to the stables we went! 

And like I had mentioned to you, we went to a "Pop Up" Restaurant for dinner...
Well let me rephrase that - we attempted to go to "Pop Up" Restaurant for dinner.

The line was out the door, the place was jam packed, and although the schedule was from 6pm-12am, they were SOLD OUT of the vegan grub before 8pm.
We were in line waiting on Jet, Andrew, and Chaplin when a staff member had come out to let us know that they had run out of vegan food! 

Well that was sure a bummer, and I had no PLAN B, so the kids and Dave came up with the idea for us to salvage the night by going to Native Foods instead of just heading home.
And so that is what we did. Jet, Andrew, and Chaplin decided to come along and after dinner we called it a night...meeting each other back at home.
And us being sure that we had all of our gear ready for the morning mud!

Super Saturday

Here's to a great Saturday!  I'm still in the birthday mode!

Last night for my "real" birthday, we had a family dinner at one of my favorite local restaurants, Nick's Pizza in Rockville Centre.

My brother-in-law Carlo and nephew Nolan were unable to make it due to a double header baseball game that Nolan's team had last night. And my daughter, Rebecca was also unable to attend due to her crazy work schedule.

Other than that, the gang was all there in good cheer for an evening of good conversation and good food.

I had a nice evening and totally enjoyed my Penne a la vodka!!  Sorry folks, no food pictures - I was way hungry and just dug in! 

Today, I'll be heading out to the barn with the girls. Have I told you just how much I love our Saturday routine!  

The girls absolutely LOVE being at Dream Come True Farm, surrounded by the horses and their friends and trainers.  I love it there for the same reason!  It's peaceful, friendly and warm and the fact that I get to spend the entire day with my girls, watching them do the one thing they absolutely love, fills my heart with such happiness!!

Considering that it also happens to be Saturday, I wanted to finally share with you, my favorite "bags" for traveling!

I actually have TWO favorite bags that I ALWAYS travel bring with me, whether it's a day trip, weekend trip or long distance, extended stay trip.

1. Tumi Women's Convertible Back Pack
This super lightweight-yet-durable backpack is my go-to bag!  Made of nylon with elegant leather trim and great detailing, it is perfect for daily use, but I especially love it for traveling.  I can easily fit my laptop, chargers, camera and some personal items with all of the pockets and sleeves within.

What's nice about this bag is that it doubles as a tote, so even when I've gone to sights and venues that did not allow back packs, I had no trouble entering with my "tote."

I've taken this on every single trip since I bought it back in 2012!

2. Travelin Black Wheeled Underseat Carry-On with Back Up Bag
Can I tell you how much I love these bags!!  
They are the perfect size for any kind of travel and the fact that you can "stack" the Back-Up bag, it makes it perfect for walking through airports or train stations.

The wheeled bag has a great deal of space and tons of compartments for separating your travel necessities.  It is available in an assortment of colors, but I always prefer to go with black.

The "back up" bag is totally roomy and I always keep a small cross-over bag in it for easy access of my purse, passport and lipstick. As a shoulder bag, it is very comfy and stays put without sliding off.

Now you know two of my travel essential secrets!  

Since I'm out east today, I'm going to join my friend Lisa to go to the San Gennero Feast in Hampton Bays.  Looking forward to lots of good Italian goodies to eat!! Tell you about it tomorrow!!
