For starters I want to wish my dear cuz a most WONDERFUL and FABULOUS BIRTHDAY! She's already in gear with celebrating and it looks as though she's having a marvelous time!!
Too bad that I'm not there to "help" in the fun! But we'll just have to plan something and make up for it :)
If you recall, just this summer Elisa and I went on an AMAZING cousins Euro Trip together - that we "claimed" for our birthdays! (I'll take and/or use any excuse for a trip.)
We had such a GREAT time!!!
And yesterday, while Elisa was out enjoying the city, I stayed home most of the day. I posted this weeks TBT story "To Bridge or not to Bridge", I managed to unpack another piece of luggage, did some online shopping - which included Halloween Costumes!
ONLY 15 DAYS UNTIL HALLOWEEN!
Cosette, Dave, and I chose to be Renaissance Royalty (I can't wait to dress up and show you!) and Dominic chose a superhero favorite - Captain America! The rest of our gang will be dressing up and joining in on the fun too... PICTURES PICTURES PICTURES!
And then last night we also took Dominic to only one of his classes - he opted to skip the first one. Today I'll be taking Cosette to the stables, which she is looking extra forward to going because as a little photog herself, she got a surprise birthday gift that she has been "dreaming" about - A Canon SLR! I know that she'll be there snapping away...
We'll also hit up a few stores on our way home, and then the plan for tonight is to go to a "Pop Up" restaurant in Fullerton! Which is great since it's FOODIE FRIDAY!
This week it's the birthday girl's turn and she got a lovely surprise a couple of days ago, where a long lost article that she spent a ton of time on, had magically reappeared!!! It's about her experience fulfilling a bucket lister and going to cooking class in Tuscany. Click HERE for the review.
Lastly, let me not forget to mention that we'll be spending the day mentally prepping for our big race day tomorrow...
Yup folks, we are doing another one!
More on this tomorrow and on Sunday..
I'm gonna bid you adieu for now. Don't forget to wish Elisa a Happy Birthday! Hopefully she can have her cake and eat it too!!
See ya back here tomorrow, -T

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!
Good day to you!! Can you guess what today is?? I think there are plenty of hints here on our blog page!
That's right, today is my Birthday!! And although I officially turn a year older at 8:20PM (EST), I've been celebrating the start of another 365 days since yesterday!
I got into the city early yesterday - the plan was for me and Danielle to get there early to have a fun “sister’s” lunch and then head to the hotel late afternoon to check in.
Well, that’s just what we did. That is the good news. You are gonna love this one folks…I had my camera, and was snapping away - on the train in Penn Station and in the cab. Got some great shots of the city.
Then when I got to the hotel, I decided to look at all my photos (which I usually do as I’m taking them, but my arms were either full or I was laughing and chatting away) — are you with me so far…yup - the camera card was OUT OF THE CAMERA!!!
I had accidentally left it in the adapter when I packed up my laptop and that’s where it still was when I unpacked my little MacBook Air after we checked in!! I can’t tell you how much I wanted to scream!!
The good news is that Danielle took some pics on her phone (not great ones, I might add - sorry sis) because she was relying on my photographic prowess.
Okay, so back to the day We ate at the cutest little restaurant downtown…Chalk Point Kitchen.
It was rated one of the best restaurants for vegetarian on Trip Advisor, and after dining here for lunch, I get why! I’ll be doing a full Foodie Friday feature, but for now, let me elaborate on the good eats we enjoyed.
We started with a tasty vegetarian “bruschetta” of Cauliflower and parmesan, which was delicious. The cauliflower was delicately cooked, full of savory spices, which I couldn’t quite identify, but I think it was coriander. For our main course, we both had the Quinoa Bowl filled with kale, chick peas, pistachios and walnuts and topped with feta cheese. Boy was it yummy and filling!!
The atmosphere was eclectic in this soho eatery - part shabby chic, part soho warehouse. Totally enjoyed it!!
Next, we headed uptown to our hotel for the night - Hyatt 48 Lex at 48th and Lexington Avenue. What an adorable hotel tucked away on the east side, a few blocks from Grand Central.
With its open first floor lobby, this lively, yet intimate hotel, was a wonderful find!! Accents of art deco adorned the space, including the second floor balcony railings, with intimate seating that overlooks the main lobby.
Being so close to Grand Central, I talked Danielle into doing the touristy thing and walking around this historic train station. Boy, was I in for a surprise! I hadn’t been there in YEARS!! The shops and layout really impressed me. I also took the opportunity to walk around The New York Transit Museum, right in Grand Central.
I’ll be chatting about this in great detail on an upcoming W2GW!!!
Our night was just as fun as our day!! We dined at Print in Ink 48 and then went up to the Rooftop Press Lounge. This is the hotel we stayed at last year for our birthdays - if it aint broke, don’t fix it, is what I say - and we decided to re-capture the fun of a year ago by eating and hanging out!!
