Looking Ahead to Broadway, Vegan Market and a School Dance

Hello and welcome to a new week!!
Not terribly sunny on this end, but, I have lots of paperwork and phone calls to catch up on, so I don't mind. 

The biggest thing I need to do today is go and renew my driver's license. Nothing like waiting till the last minute!

It expires on my birthday, which just happens to be
tomorrow!! 

Unfortunately, around here, it is also just another ordinary Tuesday - with school, homework - the usual.  But, alas, don't worry - I've got some fun stuff planned in spite of the normal routines.

I'm going to make the three of us gals a nice dinner and be sure to get a non-dairy dessert so we can all enjoy it. (you may remember, Gianna has given up dairy).

However, the real fun is going to happen this weekend!  We have stuff happening beginning Friday, straight through to Sunday!

Let's me tell you about it all...

Friday
Kelsey's School Dance

As a seventh grader, Kelsey has her first 7th & 8th Grade dance this Friday.  Mom is on the decorating committee, for which we'll be setting up in the morning and then the evening will include a pre-dance dinner at one of her classmate's house, followed by the dance itself at the school.

During our mall day last weekend, she found an adorable dress, and we'll be getting her shoes after school Wednesday! You know I'll be taking lots of pictures to share on Saturday's blog!

A most exciting day is planned to celebrate my birthday, along with my Aunt Ro's, (which just happens to be on Saturday), in Manhattan, where the four of us will enjoy the musical show Smokey Joe's Cafe.  

Of course, a good meal will follow, near the theatre!!

​Vegan Market at Market Hotel

We've been looking forward to this since we were unable to attend last month. The Vegan Market at the Market Hotel is a monthly indoor pop up market with some of the area's best vegan vendors of food, apparel, bath & body products, and cosmetics.

These vendors are 100% vegan all of the time!


So, as you can see there is no shortage of celebrating come the weekend!!

As for the rest of the week, it's really just the usual crazy school schedule.  I do, however, have to take Kelsey for a "pre-dance" (and much needed) haircut on Thursday.  

This afternoon I'll be kicking off my birthday week with a relaxing manicure and massage!

Cosette's Birthday Celebration RECAP

Good day folks!

How's everyone doing today? How was your weekend?

Ours was all about Cosette's birthday, filled with food, family, friends and FUN!

Yesterday was her actual birthday and as usual birthdays around here are very long days.
They start early in the morning and last well past midnight and into the next calendar day!!

​Cosette's plans had started our day with us having a lovely breakfast at Kitchen Mouse in the Highland Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Cosette had been looking forward to the vegan full English breakfast that we first devoured back in March of this year during my English Day in LA

My dear friend Cherryl had joined us and out of our tableful of people we had 3 order the very yummy Full English Breakfast and the other 3 order the Jackfruit "Crab"cake Benedict.

Stories were shared and good times were had as I took what seemed like forever to finish my plate of food.    Did you even know that I am very very slow eater...especially when I'm talking!!!

We were on the road once again after our delicious meal and now we were heading to the Arboretum. We had been tossing around the idea of either going to the LA Arboretum or to the Fullerton Arboretum. 

Ultimately it was decided that we go to the Fullerton Arboretum since it was closer to home and since we still had so many more things to do for my little birthday girl!

After a lovely stroll, we headed back to the homefront and to gather with more of the fam bam. 

Of course the little cousins were eager little beavers to have Cosette open some of her gifts.

Then after some game time around the table and a refreshing Sicilian Orange Salad - which happens to be a family favorite, ​we then headed out to the Bowlmor bowling alley in Tustin.

Much fun was had there and I had a fluke night where I actually won with a score of 153 - keep in mind that I kinda suck at bowling and hardly ever break 100.

And as you can see with a score of 153 being the winning number, that we are certainly not a family of good bowlers. But we good just to have some fun. It is Dave C. who knows his stuff at bowling but he had opted not to bowl since he was nursing a sore ankle.

Heading back home for cake and a very late dinner was next. Yes I said cake first! There were 14 of us singing Happy Birthday to the birthday girl, she blew out her candles and made a wish!

Dinner was late but so very delicious if I might say so myself. Cosette had requested Baked Ziti and we had all devoured the creamy oooey gooey goodness.

​One more round of gift giving and then we finally called it a day.
