Hi there. I'm finally bopping on. It's not that I hadn't thought about coming on and getting things done but that I just hadn't brought my laptop with me nor was I home where I had access to the computer. We are slowly but surely coming back to our original daily schedule and trying to post earlier in the day...but then there will be days like today. The morning started with Cosette and I taking Goldie for a walk..Then, I was basically near home all day, but running around back and forth and doing chores all day as well. Dave B. wanted to hit up our recent and favorite Acai Bowl/Coffee place 'BlueTree Cafe'. I opted for a smoothie there and an Avocado toast to go. Other chores were in efforts to continue our packing for our upcoming trip to Florida - countdown in 4 days. Florida Trip Prep We won't be returning back to California until the night of October 30th. I'll be home for a day (Halloween) and the very next day I'll be starting another trip and this time to Sedona (my 2nd trip to Sedona for 2020). November Our trip to Sedona will also include traveling to Flagstaff and a trip the Grand Canyon National Park. A Spontaneous Road Trip to the Grand Canyon (or was it really just to get a Burrito) It's been several years since my last visit to the very majestic Grand Canyon and this will be Chaplin's first time ever! In fact this will be her first visit to any National Park. And just now as I'm in the middle of typing this blog I was also chatting with my dear friend Priscilla and guess what... She asked if I'd like to meet up with her after my Sedona trip... In Charleston, SC - well I think this is a wonderful idea and I hope that we can put it together! Of course we all know that I have to be back on home turf for Thanksgiving and all the Thanksgiving prep that comes along with that holiday. Hope you had a lovely Sunday. Signing off, -Travelin' Tanya | Hello! It's Sunday here on Travelin' Cousins for what is for most people, a three-day weekend. My gang is off from school tomorrow for Columbus Day and I'm pretty sure that we girls will more than likely enjoy a leisurely day getting ready for the week ahead. Both of my girls have tests and major projects due in the days ahead and I, myself have a number of stories I'm working on which will take me on a few local mini adventures. As for today, Tanya and I thought it would be a good idea to catch you up on some upcoming daycation visits and extended trips we have on our October and November calendars. October Great Staten Island Lighthouse Hunt October 25, 2020 If you are a lighthouse enthusiast like me and Tanya, and live in the NYC -area, then this event is for you!! In fact, it sounds like this adventure was made specifically with us in mind because it combines four of our favorite things - a visiting lighthouses, taking selfies and photos, local road trippin', and a museum visit! Starting at 10AM and going until noon, guests have an opportunity to either drive with their cars, take their motorcycles or even bike all around Staten Island to a total of 10 different lighthouses on and off shore Staten Island . With a self-directed map, visitors get to make their way around the "island' and see the many beacons of light that call this area home. At the end of this adventure, the lovely National Lighthouse Museum is waiting in the lovely waterfront area of St. George with free admission to those participants in the Lighthouse hunt. While I've visited the museum several times, I'm very excited about seeing it once again with my girls! November New Paltz University Visit New Paltz, New York - Ulster County Date TBD As you might remember from yesterday's blog, I have started the college touring process with Gianna. Our first visit was to Hofstra University on Long Island and we will continue taking short trips around the east coast throughout the next year to visit other schools. One school that we will be visiting is New Paltz University in upstate New York. Located in Ulster County, New York, this public state university has a School of Fine and Performing Arts, which sounds like it might be a good fit for Gianna, who is interested in musical theatre. I absolutely love this area of upstate New York and the town of New Paltz is an adorable little town in the Hudson Valley filled with cultural attractions and a rich history. We will probably make it a day trip, but trust me, we'll be fitting in a bunch of activities! Those are the two major events on my radar for now, but I will be filling you in on some additional day trips around the area! Here's to a great Sunday! -Travelin' Elisa xoxo |
