Trips Ahead - Puerto Plata, Disney World & Sicily
Hello! Hello!
So how are you this lovely hump day? Actually, it's not that lovely outside here on Long Island, but the sun is supposed to make an appearance later this afternoon.
This day started off with me moving and shaking. First, I dropped both kids off at school. Then I made a pitstop at the laundromat. My original plan was to drop it off, but then I thought, I'll be in and out in an hour, and it will be less expensive.
Got home with clean laundry at 9:15. Had a quick breakfast and my morning hot water with lemon & honey. And now, I find myself sitting here writing to you! But, it's just a brief rest. Gianna gets dismissed today at 12, so I will be collecting her and heading home, only to shoot back out to bring her to the orthodontist to have her braces removed!! A very exciting day for my girl!!
She has been waiting for this day for, I can't tell you when! And it's finally here!
I'm still not feeling that great - I have a bit of a cold. But, I'm scheduled to attend a networking event this evening, so we'll see how the day goes. So, what's new here in travel news?? Well, as of now, our Christmas in the Dominican Republic trip is all ready. Flights and hotel were part of an all-inclusive - this will be the first time the girls have not only gone to the Caribbean, but will also experience the "all you can eat" aspect of all-inclusives. Next up, in February, we will be heading to the southeast, to Orlando for a week at Disney World to celebrate (7 months early!) Kelsey's 13th Birthday. I've got the hotel booked and meal reservations, but I'm holding out on booking the airfare until the rates become more economical. The last step for this trip (after booking airfare) will be to book the dining plan and get our fast passes for the rides. Those last two items will be completed in December. Now, as for our Taste of Sicily Trip with Tanya and her gang, which is really a "homeland" trip since our family is originally from Sicily, that requires a bit more planning!
Both Tanya and I have done quite a bit of research, but we've yet to set our itinerary in stone, nor have we booked any of the hotels. We will have to get to work on this trip upon Tanya's return from China.
It's also going to be just a "taste" because neither Tanya nor I wanted to go to Sicily without the other, so we sort of squeezed it in between two of Tanya's trips. Me and my gang will probably get there a day earlier than our dear cousins, and my plan is to stay an additional 4 days to enjoy our family's town of origin, Taormina. I'll keep you posted on this trip planning!! I do apologize that our trip pages are not filled in yet - I will get to the three pages in the coming weeks! More later! -Travelin' Elisa xoxo |
Drama from Baseball to China
Hey there!
Well as you may or may not already know - the Yankees lost to the Red Sox and are out of the post season.
Now it'll be the Red Sox playing the Astros in the ALCS (American League Championship Series), while the Dodgers play the Brewers in the NLCS and then the best of the best of 2018 will play each other in the World Series.
I'm sure there is some very good baseball to be had, but I am really more like the anti-fan of 3 out of the 4 teams mentioned. So needless to say that my heart is really out of it and my emotions have been drained. But I'll still be there (in front of the TV) watching the games - which start of Friday.
I haven't told you guys about all of the drama that I had been dealing with regarding our trip to China - countdown in 27 Days!
This is a group trip. Actually my first one ever that I'm going on that I'm not the organizer! And being that it is a group trip everything is suppose to be handled by the tour operator. There are 5 of us going on this particular trip. Me, Cosette, Matt, Stacia and her bff Savannah. Now although we are all departing out of LAX being that Stacia and Savannah reside in Florida they were told that they had to book through the Chicago office. Whereas we had to book through the San Francisco office. Both agents had know from the very initial booking (back in early 2017) that our trips were to be linked and that we were traveling together. Well fast forward to last Friday when Savannah sent me their itinerary. Upon first glance I could immediately tell that things were off, as the girls flights were not even booked with the same airlines!
I then went ahead to compare our itineraries and aside from our dates of travel there was nothing that was the same!
It was too late on Friday for me to do anything about it besides be very upset at this discovery. I attempted to make contact on Saturday only to find out that the offices were closed over the weekend. So first thing on Monday morning I was on the phone calling the New York office. Oh yea did I mention that Stacia and Savannah got switched from the Chicago office to the New York office. So there I was sitting in the pitch dark (at 6am here in SoCal) dialing up the New York office to straighten this mess out! Luckily the agent that I spoke with felt as though it was an easy fix and promised to get back to me later that afternoon. Well you know me, and I'm not Mrs. Patience so after a few hours had passed I had to get on the phone and give them another call. As of that call, I was told that although the flights cannot be changed that they would fix everything else and we would have the same tour guide, be on the same tours/buses/hotels/etc.. WHEW! Here's hoping that we don't run into any further issues. It's kinda difficult for me to not be hands on and in control of all the details on a trip - because that is what I do and if I may say so myself, I am quite good at it! So this is going to be a whole new experience for me! I'm still over here trying to work out and juggle all of our ski trips. I'll keep you posted. But for now, I've gotta head out and get this day into gear. -Travelin' Tanya |
