DayCation Plans for November & DecemberHELLO!! Not sure about you, but for me, this week flew by!! Friday already. I've got a lunch date today with my Aunt Ro in Astoria, Queens. As I mentioned yesterday, she found a cute Indian restaurant at which she enjoyed eating a few weeks ago, and so, we're going there today. We'll also be talking "Turkey" - well, Thanksgiving, that is and discussing my all-vegan menu this year. Yup - if I didn't mention it before, me and the girls decided to go 100% plant-based for our day of Thanks this year. Stay tuned for the full menu, as Tanya and I will each feature (together) on The Daily Scoop, in the coming weeks, our respective eats for this National holiday. In any case, we are planning on having a very relaxing and quiet day at my house - watching movies, eating and lounging. In local travel news... I'm currently formulating my "DayCation" schedule for the balance of November and December. Among the events I'm slotting into the calendar:
Today, my latest article about The Bronx Museum of the Arts is up and ready to enjoy in ThisIsTheBronx. info: Exhibits at the Bronx Museum of the Arts read more Tomorrow, I'll share more purchases made on Amazon by me and the girls for our Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic Christmas trip. Lastly, if you are a Delta Airlines customer (as I am), you may be interested to know they will be incorporating some new planes into their fleet with flights beginning January 1, 2019. According to AFAR.com, the new Airbus A220 will debut with 100 flights between NYC's LaGuardia and Boston's Logan Airports as well as to and to Dallas/Ft. Worth. According to Delta, in the months following, additional A220 routes will be added, including between Detroit and Dallas, LGA and Houston, and JFK and Dallas, among others, according to Delta. What's exciting are the newly incorporated amenities to this new fleet, which will include:
Good news for those of us taking Delta in the coming year. DON'T FORGET TO CHECK OUT TANYA'S SCOOP FOR HER 2nd FULL DAY IN BEIJING!!! -Travelin' Elisa xoxo | Walking the Great Wall of ChinaGreetings from Beijing! What an exciting day.... As you are all well aware of - I am not a tour going type of gal. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE all the stages that go into planning a trip. The trip doesn't even have to be for me personally I love planing custom trips for you guys, for family and for friends. So this whole group thing has been a new experience for me. I can't say that it's been a bad experience, it actually hasn't been bad at all. In fact we are fitting so much into each day that I almost feel like I am on one of my own planned out trips. Yesterday was great and so was today. At this rate I'll be snapping hundreds of pictures each and every day that we are here. And now speaking of pictures... Guess where I went today? I went to a Jade Factory - which was pretty cool. Then we went to the freakin GREAT WALL of China!!! Whoa what an experience. Totally surreal. Totally wild. I even tried to call Dave from the top of the Great Wall - but he missed my call! UGH Taking tons of pics along the way as we trekked the very uneven and most random step heights up to the top. The bottom was most definitely filled with tourists, but the crowd surely thinned out to almost nothing before too long and we practically had the wall all to ourselves. In case you were wondering it really wasn't difficult at all aside from all the random and weirdly uncomfortable step heights. Legs, butt and lungs were all in check. But the funny thing was that before arriving there our tour guide had told us that Olivia Newton John attempted to walk the Great Wall at great lengths and yet had only managed about 10km per day - which is hiking terms is NOTHING. But that was before we realized how ridiculous the steps really were. I made sure to eat my words while I was out there doing practically full on lunges to get up some of those steps. Now please enjoy pics from the Great Wall of China. And if that wasn't enough, we also went to a Cloisonne Factory, the Beijing Olympic grounds, did a rickshaw ride through the historic Hutong District noted to be the Old Beijing and were even welcomed into one of the homes of a Hutong local. So as I wrap things up on here, I just want to note that we are having a great time...even Cosette (who didn't want to come). Gonna say toodles now and start all over again bright and early in the morning. -Travelin' Tanya TANYA ON THE GREAT WALL TANYA ON TRADITIONAL RICKSHAW RIDE Note: there are more pictures, but Tanya is having trouble with wifi - we will try to upload later - E |
