Today is Dominic's birthday, and yes he turns 18 today.
Most people look at that number and say how they can't believe it and that how I'm now the parent of an adult. Which is kinda funny because I personally don't consider any 18 year old an adult, I mean heck there are times that I hardly even consider myself an "adult"! LMAO (I'm hoping you know what I mean by that)
Anyhoo, for me there seemed to be a bigger difference between 16 & 17 then there is between 17 & 18. But maybe that's just me.
All in all, I've been with this sweet kiddo just about everyday of his life - with the exception of an occasional trip here and there that he didn't want to come on. I've watched him grow in this amazing confidant caring wise young man. As, strange as it might sound, having him turn 18 really isn't all that big of a deal for me. It's definitely more of a big deal to everyone else. In so many ways he's really still the same little kid that I've always been so proud to call my own - well just a wee bit bigger!
Both my kids love love love their birthdays, and I've always made them very special days for us to celebrate. Today will be no different.
One of Dominic's favorite things is good yummy food, and so I'm about to head into the kitchen (pretty much where you'll find me the rest of the day).
He was given the option of us going on a trip for his birthday and instead he opted for us to stay home and on the weekend for us to go to K1 racing. This kid is definitely a fan of mixing in some relaxing days in the mist of all the hectic busyness that our lives usually are filled with. But as you know me - I run on busyness! When I'm not busy I tend to get bored, which never pans out to be a good thing.
Enough about me for today - except that I'll briefly mention that I'm coming off of a very drama filled night...before heading to choir there were some fireworks (big fireworks) going off at my house because someone happened to be in a nasty mood and decided that they couldn't control their behavior.
I stood in defense and ended up in a brawl. Yup folks, you read that correctly - there was a BRAWL at my house yesterday before we headed out to choir.
In fact it started just as we were walking out the door to head out to choir. After all the BS our nerves were frazzled and faces stained with tears. When we arrived at choir rehearsal all sniffly and red faced. It was immediately assumed that we were sick. Nope guess again - just subjects of a crazy family member...well actually there are a few that I'd consider certifiable! Enough about that, it's time to focus on my birthday boy!
Time for me to go - the kitchen is calling me...
I'll catch you up on all of today's scoop tomorrow! -T
