Dreaming About Sunday Cousins' DayH A P P Y B I R T H D A Y D O M I N I C !!! A big hello to you today! And a big Shout out to Dominic on his 16th Birthday!! After reading Tanya's blog today, it sounds like they have an extraordinary day of classic New York City events and sites planned to celebrate Dominic's special day! Unfortunately, yesterday got majorly messed up in me and my gang's ability to share in the pre-birthday activities. Tanya and I planned a full day together for the day after Thanksgiving to hang in the Big Apple - first, with a noon visit to the Statue of Liberty and then over to Little Italy for a cousins celebratory birthday dinner for Dominic. Post-Poning Statue of Liberty Crown Tour Well, if you read my blog yesterday, you know that Kelsey was still under the weather with her cold. Still coughing, sneezing and generally out of it, she was only fever free for less than 24 hours, so there was no way I was risking taking her out in the below freezing temps. Although Tedd kindly offered to stay at home with her so I could venture into the city for the day with Gianna, I just felt terrible leaving the two of them out of this experience. I was very fortunate in that I connected with an exceptionally helpful operator when I called Statue Cruises yesterday morning to explain my plight in not being able to use my tickets. As a result, she was accommodating and helped me re-schedule for my "Crown Tour" for early March. It certainly will not be the same without the cousins gang, but I'm grateful that we did not lose our tickets to climb the 377 steps to the top!!! Broadway Bound Tomorrow... Now I had high hopes to join the gang for dinner down in Little Italy later in the day, but, in the end, I reluctantly opted to bow out (sad face) and wait to see everyone on Sunday (tomorrow) for our trip to see Honeymoon in Vegas on Broadway. This is one of Broadway's newest shows, which stars Tony Danza (of TV's Who's The Boss fame). Definitely one of my favorite movies, I'm eager to see the transformation from film to stage tomorrow! You can expect a full review from your's truly on this theatrical presentation. My fingers are crossed that with another day of rest, Kelsey will be up for the play. My plan is to simply drive into the city for the show and immediately come home, to minimize any stress or extended time in the cold for my little sick girl. Saturday To Do's... Today, will be a mellow day for all of us. I'm actually going to work with Kelsey to help her complete the homework she missed this past week being absent. It will be a day of "to do's" as well, which will include: * Food Shopping * Preparing a hearty dinner * Updating 2015 Calendar of Events & Trips * Article Writing What do you have planned today? Are you still chowing down Thanksgiving leftovers? We are! In fact, feeling rather stir crazy yesterday, Tedd and I decided to get a sitter last minute for a few hours to go over to Denise and Marcelo's to partake in some of their leftovers! It was a much needed break filled with laughs and a little wine! See ya back here tomorrow! Here's to a FABULOUS NYC BIRTHDAY to Dominic!!! -E | Dominic's 16th Birthday!!!It's Saturday for most people, but for us it is no ordinary Saturday...it is Dominic's 16th birthday! Holy cow, how time flies! This kid is 16! We are celebrating his birthday here in the big apple - doing what he loves best...EATING! He carefully chose where he wants to go for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner! In between all of the eating, we are going to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, do some holiday shopping (Grand Central Holiday Fair & The Union Square Holiday Market) and hit up the crazy hustle and bustle of Times Square. Of course both Dominic and I realize that although we are spending his birthday in NYC, that he is going to have yet another birthday celebration back in SoCal with all the family back there and I'm sure there will also be lots of cooking and more food for Dominic's requested menu. As far as yesterday went, well Dave the kids and I went to finally climb up to the crown of the Statue of Liberty. I say finally because, Dominic has been wanting to do this since he was a young little lad, and we've got tickets in the past - but for one reason or another, things just didn't work out all that well and we had to cancel. Dave has also been looking very forward to doing this 377 step climb to the top of Liberty Enlightening the World (original and proper name for our Lady Liberty). It was a windy and cold day out - but overall it was mighty successful, our only wish was that Elisa, Tedd and the girls were up to joining us. Afterwhich, we went and had a quick bite to eat and some extra yummy hot cocoas!! Then, sadly our dinner reservations for 12 turned out to only for the 4 of us, and the food was just ok... Bust-o-Roo! C'est La Vie Oh well, it's a new day, I've got my hunger on and now it's off to go celebrate with the birthday boy!!! Tootles, -T |
