What a fantastic and successful ThanksLIVNG we had!
My dear wonderful little Mika had spent the morning with us (having to go visit some of her other family members in the afternoon/evening) and it was so nice to have her around and to share BRUNCH with her at the table with us!
*Note that my brother was being a bit weird and didn't want her in any of the photos. smh
Everyone RAVED over brunch and had all put in their requests for me to remake the Stuffed Hashbrown Waffles for their birthday breakfasts and such. I was so glad that everyone enjoyed the brunch course of much! And of course along with the brunch course comes my annual pumpkin bread and cream cheese spread which has been getting rave reviews for years - it's the one and only pumpkin item that Cosette goes nuts over and self admitting explains that in the whole pumpkin craze it's the only thing that she looks forward to and goes crazy over!
BTW have you ever noticed that around the holidays it's Pumpkin EVERYTHING?! Well...Peppermint came first! But I guess that Pumpkin is the new Peppermint!
After a long day in the kitchen on Wednesday, where I was even making my own "butter", and staying up rather late (as usual), I was back in the kitchen at 5:45a for another 13 hours of love and labor. As Elisa mentions in her column, there is so very much work that goes into the one meal. But it is all so very worth it and is time filled with the presence of loved ones.
It was still hours before the next family member woke up and came down to the kitchen to find me hard at work and already so far in the cooking progression.
But even though I can work faster when there is no one else around one of the very many things that I was thankful for was the amount of help that I had - each of the "boys" Andrew, Dave B, Dave C, and Dominic really came to the plate and assisted me in all the prep and clean up that I needed! Without their help our dinner would've been served much later!!!
My little munchkin Chaplin as was very eager to help wherever and whenever she could - it was adorable! And with already having 23 menu items to prepare and serve up, Chaplin had wanted us to create a special and additional parfait dessert - making it 24 dishes that we banged out!!!
Once the clock struck 5:30p the boys were ready to "clock out" and watch some football - which was fine by me, I so appreciated all of their help and assistance!
Back to the meal: Everything came out perfect and was truly DELISH! There wasn't a single thing that was off or not better than expected! And by the look of my "platter" you can tell that I ate a lot!!
But I wasn't the only one...everyone filled their tummy and Dominic my eating machine had 2 mountainous servings - I know that he has a HUGE appetite, but he even outdid himself!
And of course their are plenty of leftovers to last us a while...we are having Thanksgiving number 2 tonight and we are expecting a couple of "surprise" visitors who couldn't make it for yesterdays FEAST.
But ya know what - there are certain dishes that I personally enjoy better on Day 2 (just don't tell the chef - but that's me anyway! HA)
Then somewhere around 11p I finally started to fade and doze off...
Before feasting once again, this morning I will be going for a much needed manicure - my nails are so bad that I've even peeled the polish off of a few..
The one thing that I like to avoid on BLACK FRIDAY is shopping!!! I avoid it like the plague!
I can't stand the craziness out there to save a few bucks. No thanks. I'll wait for cyber Monday!
I'd much rather have a relaxing day (which I hardly ever take for myself), wake up at my leisure (7am), and munch on the goodies that I served up yesterday! *The other relaxing day that I take is Boxing Day (the day after Christmas).
But it seems as though we might actually have a stop or 2 at a specialty shop for Dave to pick up Dominic's birthday present. The good thing is that the stores we would be going to are NOT going to be hectic or crazy with Black Friday shoppers and/or sales.
The other thing we might do is go to the movies...we shall see ad I'll let you know what happens all in tomorrows Daily Scoop!
I just realized that I still have a TBT story to share with you...and I have one in mind - stay tuned!

Black Friday...Shopping & Sales
Good day folks!!
I truly hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday!!
Me and my sister before the big feast
My day was so enjoyable and relaxing! Of course, the food was delectable as well!
Is it me, or did you ever think about how much time goes into the preparation of a huge feast, and then how quickly it takes to eat it!
I really should not have started off with the tremendous piece of lasagna -- that kind of did me in for the rest of the meal lol.
In spite of devouring the whole serving, I did manage to scoff down a full plate full of the rest of the meal - salad, string beans & potatoes, stuffing and gravy, cranberry relish, potatoes au gratin, mac 'n cheese, mashed sweet potatoes.
I did not partake in the turkey, but I understand it was dee-lish!
Did I mention, that prior to our feast, there was also some cheese and bread put out?? Yes, we did not have a shortage of food yesterday!
Lots to be grateful for!

The whole gang, less your's truly - yes, I was taking the picture
After a brief break and some clean up, we rolled ourselves back to the table for dessert.
The pecan pie and cookie dough ice cream put me over the edge! I just wasn't the same after that!!
Since both of my nephews had birthdays last week, we also sang Happy Birthday with the whole family in attendance!

Well, today is Black Friday and I'm imagining that people will be out in droves to do their Christmas shopping.
Personally, I like to shop online. It's more relaxing; you can do it sitting down in the comfort of your own home and with the right sites such as Ebates, you can get cash back for your shopping.
Of course, having said that, we will be making our way to the mall later on as Gianna is is much need of dress shoes and boots. I'm sort of dreading the crowds.
Oh well, you gotta do what you gotta do!
Today will be a Barn day with the girls. They will be taking a lesson today and then tomorrow will be their regular Saturday riding.
Once again, these cuties paid with their own allowance.
