BRAND BALLOT'S TOP 100 MOM BLOGS FOR 2018!!
Thankful and Ready to Eat!!
Thanksgiving is here and a Big Happy Thanksgiving to you and your's!!
I couldn't believe that when I signed on, my dear cuz had already posted! Neither of us had time yesterday to even text chat as we were cooking away! Of course, if you are scrolling on a phone, you will see my blog first, including my menu for today...and then you will see Tanya's and realize that her's is WAY bigger than mine!! In all fairness, her gang is much larger than mine this year and so I did not go crazy making tons of dishes. I do think what we have will be more than enough for my little group of four. Me and the Gianna began cooking at around 10:30 yesterday and by 2:00, we were done with three dishes. Since the balance of the dishes I can make today, I decided to hang out with the girls for the rest of the day. Well here it is:

Here on Long Island, it's supposed to be a real chilly day, so most of our day will be indoors.
We will start by watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! The rest of the day, the girls were adamant about watching Christmas movies, to get in the mood for the start of the Christmas season.
That's about it for my day!
I'm pretty excited about having a non-hectic day. I want to express my gratitude to you on this day of thanks! We love you guys so much and appreciate you following us! Have a blessed, safe and Happy Thanksgiving!! -Travelin' Elisa xoxo

Cooking up a storm!!
Happy Thanksgiving to you!
Well I finally headed up to bed at around midnight last night, only to wake up a few short hours later and saunter directly back into the kitchen. The kitchen is basically my hang out, my workplace and pretty much where you'll find me the past couple of days. Thanksgiving Eve and Christmas Eve definitely have that in common whereas I am busy at work and there is no rest for the weary. It's a non-stop job, but luckily I seem to thrive off of the work overload! I know that I missed ya'll yesterday and that Elisa promised that we'd share our menus with you today and without further adieu:
Now you may or may not have noticed an item slightly less then familiar. But this item is the one that I am most excite about!!!
You would absolutely not believe my excited when I went to Mother's last night. I had pretty much gone to the store more to keep Dave company than anything else. And to my surprise, or I should say utter shock I had noticed my beloved Cardona!
The cardoon, also called the artichoke thistle or globe artichoke, is a thistle in the sunflower family.
I love Artichokes. I mean really love Artichokes. But to me my absolute all time favorite vegetable is Cardona, above and beyond even Artichokes. I was so beyond excited I can't even explain. But I tried. And I definitely gave the grocers a few stories to tell. lol How many people actually get excited over vegetables? I honestly think that I might have made the produce associates day when they saw me practically dancing in the aisles and attempting to thank them for this editable treat. The grocer had explained that the Cardona was in fact a special request from another customer - who obviously has good taste! And best of all is that I'll be able to place my own special request. Anyhow although this veggie wasn't on my original menu, and most people (outside of NY and Italy) have never even heard of it, it is now the item that I'm looking most forward to! Now i better get back to cooking! Eat well and be thankful, -Travelin' Tanya |
