Tanya's Daily Scoop CURRENTLY TRAVELING IN: Yosemite National Park
The Adventures never stop..
GREETINGS from Yosemite National Park!
Things in my life usually go according to what's on my calendar and what's on my schedule, but sometimes things don't always go according to plan...and mishaps HAPPEN!
We had a most wonderful Saturday doing everything as planned and as scheduled...
Driving through the town of Mariposa on our way to the El Portal entrance of the park. Mariposa btw was where I stayed on our very first trip to Yosemite NP back in 1989!
We were heading to the Tuolumne Grove to hike amongst the Biggest Trees on the Planet!!!
Pictures CANNOT do any justice to the size of these trees!
That tiny red spot is Dave!
The tiny blue spot is Cosette!
Dominic and I cannot resist climbing!!
We walked through the famous Tunnel Tree!
Dominic needed to cool off!
Then we headed out of the park and to Oakdale to catch the murder train! We opted to go incognito and take the roles of "different and mysterious people"! I was Gemma, Dominic became Virgil, Cosette was Bella, and Dave the odd Antoine!! It was a HOOT!!!
So after a wonderful day of walking amongst the Giant Sequoias and then choo chooing on the Sierra Railroad while piecing clues together in a "murder mystery", we had a bit of a mishaps on the 2+ hours drive back to our little hotel.
Everything was going as planned and I was behind the wheel be-booping and singing along to the tunes of Gwen Stefani and No Doubt when I started to feel something a bit odd... I'm no mechanic but I think the transmission was slipping. The truck was having trouble with some of the hills (on this hilly drive), and doing all sorts of bucking like a wild Bronco! In the dash the Check Engine light and another 2 service lights had illuminated and we still had 46 miles to go (GPS quoting 1hr and 15min) before getting back to the safety of our room. The roads were dark and desolate, and we were of course getting no signal on our cells.
But we made it back safe and sound.
And now have opted to take a bus into the park.

Sunday Travel Tips
With the holiday season quickly approaching, lots of us are getting our travel plans in order.
If you are like me, your number one priority when making air travel plans for the holidays is to get the best possible deals.
As you know, WHEN you purchase your airfare has a lot to do with finding the best prices.
Back in February, I posted an article about the Best Days to Book Travel. I think this is a good time to repost it with Thanksgiving and Christmas upon us.
Included in my article is also the best times and days to travel as well. This is really important as you begin your travel planning.
For example, when school holidays begin, most people will do their traveling. But, if you have the flexibility of leaving a few days early or later, you will benefit from the better rates.
I hope this is helpful for you!!
So, today, I went to Kelsey's 4th Grade mass. It was really cute to have the focus be on the kids, particularly the sermon.
The rest of the day, I'll be doing errands -- food shopping both for the week and for Thanksgiving.
I'll tell you all about my menu tomorrow! I mean, most of us, have basically the same or variations of the same food that we eat on Thanksgiving, but we all have our little twist -- and I'll be sharing our little family twist on Thanksgiving dinner!
Very happy that this is a short week!!
Enjoy your Sunday!!
