Elisa's Advice for Purchasing Big-Ticket items and finds her missing passport
HELLO FOLKS!!
Monday here!! I do feel like my life has been rather unexciting in the travel department lately because I'm tethered to my home until my closings are complete. Each day is filled with either talking to my mortgage broker, real estate attorney, real estate broker, financial advisor, accountant, contractor or surfing the internet for furniture, decorative accessories or appliances. This past weekend, as you know, I put a couch, love seat and swivel chair on layaway at Ashley Furniture (which, by the way, I found out is the largest producer of furniture in the country). I shared these purchases with my sister and the prices I paid and lo and behold, my baby sis discovered that all of the items I put on layaway were cheaper online!!! She was adamant that if I go into any store to buy anything for my new home, that I first check the prices online, as the store is required to honor the lower price. So, guess what? I did check and as a result of my sister's prudent advice, I am saving $153 on the couch and $120 on the swivel chair. I decided that I probably will not buy the love seat, and instead, I'll get two chairs which will give my living room a more casual and inviting look! Remember to always do the comparison when shopping for high ticket items!!
In other news...
Not sure if I mentioned to you that I had "misplaced" my passport about two months ago. I always keep mine and my girls' passports in a very safe place. But, about two months ago, I took mine out as I was using it for identification purposes, and I "put it in a different safe place." Needless to say, I COULD NOT FIND IT!!! I was freaking out guys. I searched through my dresser drawers, the packed bins with my clothing, the other packed bins with my shoes, my jewelry and accessory bin (yes, bins have been packed for a while). NOWHERE to be found! I even looked through my luggage, thinking maybe I stashed it in there. You see, I had to get out of the house during one of the house showings and didn't have enough time to store my passport in my "usual" safe place. Anyway, today, I went through all my bins AGAIN and then I decided to empty out my toiletry luggage and guess what!!! I FOUND MY PASSPORT!! Whew!! I knew it was around, but it was driving me nuts. That's about it today for the excitement in my life except that I cleared out my dresser completely as well as one-half of one of my double closets (I have 2) and wound up creating 3 big bags of clothing for the Salvation Army. Then I folded everything that I'm keeping and packed it all neatly for the move. Very productive day!!! See ya back tomorrow!! -Travein' Elisa xoxo |
