A New WeekMonday again! Here on Long Island it's a rainy, ugly day.  Have you been following Tanya's blog about Iceland? This is really one of those places that I hadn't thought about going to until Tanya planned her trip and now, I know it's found its way on my list of places to see because it seems so surreal. I decided to look up the most surreal places to visit and found this great article 27 Surreal Places to Visit Before You Die. Welcome to another beautiful week of your life! So far we have been spending each day on foot exploring and indulging in all the wanderlust that makes me who I am!  From the moment daylight breaks until sundown (at the earliest) we are on foot, walking exploring, getting familiar with Iceland and its capital Reykjavik. Well we did have a bit of disappointment last night, when we received a message from the tour company that the conditions weren't on par with going out on the Northern Lights Tour. Bummer. Only one thing to do...Reschedule for tonight! And if tonight doesn't work, I'll keep on rescheduling until I have no more time left on this trip to reschedule...and then what? No worries... I plan another trip!  How'd you like the list that Elisa posted? There are certainly some very cool and fun places to go out there! She has Antelope Canyon as her #1; Dominic and I have been there and it's definitely an awesome and picturesque place! I'm pretty sure that we'll be stopping there again in May on our Road Trip for Dave's birthday!!!  So now about our day here in ICELAND - We started out by following the bay past the Sun Voyager, and out to Harpa Concert Hall. The kids and I took in the Iceland Expo Pavilion - 360° cinematic experience - The pavilion features a unique 360-degree film where the walls and ceiling form a visual unity. It was designed for the Worlds Fair in Shanghai 2010 and set up again at the Fankfurt Book Fair in 2011, where Iceland was the Guest of Honor.  Next, our little group headed over to the Old Harbour and took in some sights, before strolling to see The Cathedral of Christ King, and then onward toward Perlan or The Pearl in English -   This landmark building is on many of the top 10 lists of things to see in Reykjavík. It is 25.7 metres (84.3 ft) high, and was originally designed by Ingimundur Sveinsson. Perlan is situated on the hill Öskjuhlíð where there had been hot water storage tanks for decades. In 1991 the tanks were updated and a hemispherical structure placed on top. There is also an observation deck on the fourth floor that hosts some very amazing views of the city!   By the time we left The Pearl, it was just about getting dark and the wind had picked up. Neither Dominic nor Cosette wanted to listen to my suggestion to bring their hats and gloves with them today, and they both complained at one point or another as to it being the coldest day thus far on the trip. So it was about time to head back to our apartment and get ready to hopefully take the Northern Lights Tour...cross your fingers for us!
