What a dog-gone weekend!Well, hello Monday. Boy am I glad to get started on a new week. Whew! Especially after this weekend. First Tanya has her hands full on Saturday with Jet's trip to the emergency room for her poor finger that caught in the car door. Then I had a little medical emergency with my dog, Liberty yesterday. Liberty is now 13 years old. She had a rough winter last year as she developed vistibular disease which is essentially vertigo for doggies. It's symptoms mimic a stroke and it takes a few months to recover from, leaving the dog with a slight head tilt. So, since that time, we made the decision to minimize her stress, we wouldn't take her to the vet's office anymore and just allow her to be seen at home with house calls. Up until today...She bounced back wonderfully from everything she'd been through. But, last night it was as if her back legs were giving way. Now, we give her Xanax for when she is really anxious and cannot calm down. After calling the vet, they scheduled her in for today just to be sure it was nothing more than the effects of the medicine. I thought a simple visit over the the vet would be okay and figured she could even get her nails clipped. WRONG DECISION ELISA. Instead, she got herself into quite a state. Maybe the smell of the dogs; perhaps she didn't know what was going to happen. But, she began to pant really heavy and almost had a slight wheeze. The doctor saw her and said Liberty looked wonderful but was a little stressed, but not to worry. Well, after we left and had her in the car, she was freaking out. She was wheezing and appeared as if she couldn't get enough air. She peed, defficated and threw up in the car, all within 2 minutes of driving away. She looked like she was struggling so to breathe and to say the least, I was flipping out. I called the vet; doubled back and upon arrival, they came out to get her. They said she had gotten herself into a state and they would give her oxygen and a tranquilizer to calm her down. “Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.” | The Countdown...Happy Monday! I hope that everyone is coming off of a pleasant and relaxing weekend. We went out to Rancho Palos Verdes yesterday for the kids performance with the International Peace Choir in the Festival of Music Benefit Concert. The performance was wonderful and so touching that it brought the crowd to tears. And although I've heard these songs over and over again, I've gotta admit that I was pretty choked up myself! After the concert we had a few more errands to run, then we took a nice tea time break and met my mom at the book store for a bit. Still with plenty more to do, I had to get to the grocery store just for a few things, come back home and cook a big 'ol Pasta dinner for my hungry clan, and then keep checking things off of my list... Elisa sent me a text around midnight to ask if I was still awake - and yes, I was still running around like a mad woman! LOL Finally wrapped things up and put myself to bed sometime after 2am. The EXCITEMENT builds... We leave for our vacation early tomorrow morning, we're all checked in...but I'm still not quite ready! The countdown is under 20hrs until we are boarding our flight to NYC! Getting prepped for this trip along with everything else made last week very busy for me, then this past weekend was even busier, and here I am running out of space in my suitcase and I'm not even done packing! I'm getting close, but I can't exactly see the light at the end of the packing tunnel quite yet! And as usual the closer I get to my trip and the more things that I check off of my to do list...I always come up with a ton of new things that feel I "need" to do! So, I have until 4ish today to be DONE. My manicure appointment is at 4:30p, then we are going straight to choir rehearsal, where I also have a board meeting tonight, and right back home to cook, eat dinner, get ready for bed, and hopefully get more that a couple of hours of sleep! That's about all folks, I've gotta keep my momentum and finish up over here! Have a great day! -T |
