Need to go back to Gdansk Tanya's Daily Scoop CURRENTLY IN: ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Hello my Dahlings, While yesterday wasn't the most interesting - since almost all of my plans had to be adjusted and rearranged - due to unforeseen circumstances. But really what can you do?! One of the things I did do was get to hang out and about with my mom, sissys and my niece Chaplin. One of the stops we had made was going to Bodhi Leaf Coffee, where I was delighted to see that they had Pistachio Syrup on their menu. Of course I had no choice but to order a Pistachio Latte; which in turn always brings back memories of the absolute best coffee drink that I've ever had in my entire life. Drum roll please... It was a Pistachio Hedonist from Retro Cafe in Gdansk, Poland. It was by far the only drink that I can honestly say was "DREAMY"! As I sat there reminiscing, I also shared how I need to go back to Gdansk and hopefully find this drink waiting for me. And also hopefully is as good as I remember it! IN RELATED READING: Vegan in Poland, Czech Republic, Austria and Germany After sipping away at our coffee drinks and then making a quick stop into Trader Joes, we had all made our way back to our dwellings. To meet up again at dinner time - Friday nights are at Jet's place - to which we fondly call The Beehive. Furthermore to catch you up on Thursdays events, while I went with the kiddos and their partners to Disney's California Adventure for a much fun day, Dave Y. was off to Phoenix, AZ. - a 5+ hour road trip. And by the end of our night, we had realized that Dave left for Phoenix after we left for the park and had returned from Phoenix before we returned from the park!!! Driving round trip to Phoenix, AZ in shorter time than we spent on our feet and walking around, getting in our steps at Disney's California Adventure! Vegan Festival Food and Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! - Disneyland And as far as today goes, I'm going in for some much needed pampering by getting my hair done before Dave Y. and I head on down to Sunny San Diego. The main purpose of this day trip is to go watch my boys in Pin Stripes - The New York Yankees play against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park - one of the most beautiful Baseball stadiums out there in the MLB. We watched last night's game on the boob tube and throughly enjoyed a fantastic win. And of course I'm hoping for another one tonight! This game will also start a week+ of us going to several Yankees games following the 1st place team along the California coast. I'm so excited! As far as plans for the rest of this Memorial Day Holiday Weekend, well I don't really have much more on the board, but we do have another birthday dinner to attend on Monday night. Until we meet again. Ciao 4 Now, -Travelin Tanya | The Dr. Pat Show & Good Eats at Le Pain Quotidien Elisa's Daily Scoop CURRENTLY IN: LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK Hello, Hello!! This was such a super exciting week for me! First, it was the third Monday of the month so I had my live podcast, The High V.I.B.E. Show on The Transformation Network I think I told you guys that my podcast is the first and third Monday of each month. This week's guest was such an interesting and vibrant lady, Rachel Russo. She is a professional relationship coach and matchmaker. We had such a fun and genuine conversation about how to find a compatible love partner. I strongly suggest you watch this episode if you are looking for that special someone! The second piece of excitement this week was my guest appearance on The Dr. Pat Show!! Dr. Pat is the founder and inspirational beacon of The Transformation Network. Not only is she celebrating 20 years as a podcast host, she has and continues to blowing the doors off traditional talk radio shows with her energizing delivery and powerful interviews with renowned leaders in the field of human potential. So... in addition to hosting my own podcast on this transformative network, I had the glorious opportunity this past Thursday to be the featured guest on Dr. Pat's show!! The topic was "High V.I.B.E. Divorce and Hitting Restart." If you missed our "return blog" Mother's Day & Happy Anniversary to Us last week, you may not know that during the blog hiatus, I became certified as a life and health coach. My coaching focus is life transition and the guiding principles of my practice is my proprietary "4 Pillars of V.I.B.E.™ " Basically, I'm committed to helping people reach their goals by change their mindset and personal vibration to manifest their desires. As a result of my own personal journey with divorce, a big part of my practice is divorce coaching and helping others who are struggling through this difficult life transition. So, the show was focused on how to achieve a high vibe divorce, as well as the importance of living at a high energy frequency. I invite you to check out the show as it was one of the highlights of my life journey! My week ended on Friday evening (or I suppose, you could say, my WEEKEND began) with a lone dinner at one of my favorite eateries - Le Pain Quotidien. I know I have mentioned this adorable little French cafe numerous times in the past here on The Daily Scoop, but today I thought I would go on a deeper dive! Both of my girls had plans this evening - Gianna working and Kelsey at a friend's house, so Mama was on her own for dinner. I took a trip over to the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, Long Island and enjoyed the quaint atmosphere, the delightful and friend service and YES - the food! at Le Pain Quotidien. Here's a few words from MOI and a gallery of snapshots I took during my latest visit. Vlogging at Le Pain Quotidien You may be interested to know that Le Pain Quotidien means "the daily bread" and it was founded by Alain Coumont who is quoted as saying about its creation: "My idea was simple, having a place where I can feel home… away from home." The first Le Pain Quotidien was opened in 1990 by Alain in Belgium at Rue Antoine Dansaert. The core value which Alain holds dear to his heart – and still does today – is simplicity. According to the official website, "The very first menu he wrote had 2 breakfast suggestions, 8 tartines, 4 salads, and 3 desserts. That’s it, nothing more and nothing less. Featuring all seasonal and local ingredients. Some of these dishes can still be found on our menu today: the LPQ breakfast, the chocolate bombe, and the tartine boeuf basilic." Alain's international dream became a reality, when he left Belgium and opened his first Le Pain Quotidien in New York. With the company's expansion and the opening of more restaurants Alain’s initial idea is always first and foremost - "simple, wholesome and sustainable food, to share with friends or family around our communal table or at home around your kitchen table." One of the things I love is that they are committed to choosing products and ingredients that are grown from organic farming. For me, this major plus, since I try to always eat organic foods when I can. Their menu, from the beginning - 30 years ago - has been "flexitarian" so that there is literally something for everyone, including plant-based eaters like me. However, because they also have menu options with meat, fish and cheese, Le Pain Quotidien is a great destination for all dietary lifestyles. And I will leave you with a few fun facts about this simple, homey and cozy restaurant from Alain himself--
Well, my lovelies - I bid you au revoir! Have a happy and peaceful Memorial Day weekend!! -Travelin' Elisa |
