Getting Ready for the Five Boro Bike Ride
GREETINGS from the Big Apple! ???
Hi there and welcome to NYC, I'm currently here to participate and cycle along with 31,999 other cyclists from around the world in the Five Boro Bike Tour taking place tomorrow and that will take over the streets of New York!
Are you pumped?! Tomorrow we ride the car-free streets of NYC in support of free bike education at the TD Five Boro Bike Tour #TDFBBT I am just lovin' these awesome quotes and images that Bike NYC has been posting. They are so FUN!
I also want to wish you a
Happy Cinco de Mayo to you as well!
Although we will be quite busy spending the day getting ready for tomorrow's ride, I'm sure that there are plenty of peeps out there who will be celebrating this Mexican holiday... An annual celebration held on May 5. The date is observed to commemorate the Mexican Army's unlikely victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla, on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza.
If I were at home you know that I'd be whipping up some sort of Mexican themed dinner for the fam bam. As I am one who really just loves celebrating LIFE. Because as the quote says "Life is a Fiesta!"
And whether it be me celebrating in a Creole theme for Fat Tuesday, a Chinese theme for Chinese New Year, an Irish theme for St. Patrick's Day, a Mexican theme for Cinco de Mayo, an American theme for the Forth of July, or an Italian theme every Sunday of my life and then some.
I encourage you to get on out there and celebrate!!

Finally excited about the upcoming ride (c)travelincousins.com
Well, me and the Birdwald machine made our way here from SoCal yesterday and this morning before all the running around commences, we will be heading out to a lovely brekkie/brunch at Urban Vegan Kitchen before heading over to Red Hook, Brooklyn to the Bike Expo to pick up our bibs and ride packet. Who knows, I'm sure we'll do some shopping while we are there as well!!
Then depending on the time we get back into Manhattan and if we are peckish, then I think we just might go for a slice of some good ol' NYC Pizza - not that other stuff that you think pizza is suppose to be...unless of course you are in Italy and then well NOTHING COMPARES TO PIZZA IN ITALY (my favorite pizza in the world is found in Sorrento!)
Anyhow as you can see food can side track me! LOL
After we nosh a bit, we've gotta pick up our bike rentals and get them back over to our hotel - over 50 some blocks. I'd like to ride - but there is no way I'm riding with the traffic in NYC.
As a driver and the granddaugther of a previous NYC Cabbie...
DID YOU KNOW - That my beloved Grandfather drove a cab in Manhattan as one of his many stints back in the day!
So I know first hand what I'm dealing with and how to deal with it in a car, in a bike on the other hand - I would fear for my life!
Before the night is over we got some lovely dinner plans at one of my faves - Blossom as our pre-game meal. I'm sure we'll get a great nights sleep and then in the morning it's gonna be all about PEDALING DAMMIT.
Hopefully I can catch you before we head to the start line. And if you happen to be in NYC why don't you come on out and cheer us on!!!!
Alright, I'm outta here, -Travelin' Tanya
