Elisa's Daily ScoopIs Technology All It's Cracked Up to Be?Hey there folks!! Happy Saturday! We are having a truly lovely weather weekend here in New York! I am loving' it! My original plan was to go out east to Remsenburg today for the kids to go horseback riding. While they were both at camp, Tedd and I were going to go to our "for sale" house and do a little last minute cleaning before the open houses this coming week. But, as of last night, Gianna's back was really bothering her and so, riding is definitely out of the question. As a result, I decided to stay home with her and let "Daddy" take Kelsey to the barn and do the last minute house chores himself. I'll probably have a relaxing day with Gianna - do some more work on organizing my basement and collecting stuff for my yard sale with Denise. I was actually thinking of seeing if I could get Gianna a massage. Something with a light touch, just to work out some of her soreness. It's from the stupid back packs with all these damn books that they make these kids carry around! And then when they have to go class to class, like Gianna does now, beginning in the 5th grade, they don't allow the students to carry books in a back pack - they have to hold them in their arms, up and down the steps. I find it absurd!! Well, all i know is that as soon as her back feels better, it acts up again. So angry. Onto a different subject. Last night, Danielle had dinner plans, so I watched her boys for a few hours at my house. All the kids ate in shifts after I did take out from our favorite neighborhood restaurant, Rustica Brick Oven Pizza Cafe. Our kids just love hanging together. Nolan, who is now 12, is quite the comedian and jokester and decided to play with Gianna's make-up and create quite the look for himself! Then I tried Gianna's charger and for some reason, it wasn't connecting correctly to my phone. UGH! So, I thought, "Ok, I'll just finish my daily." Well, guess what folks -- my internet was not working! I went to my desk top, right next to the router and it wasn't getting a connection either. All at once, my phone DIES! I was actually in the middle of texts to friends and family and then, it craps out. So, I go into the car to use the car charger, and this charger completely falls apart while I attempt to plug it into my phone!! REALLY?????? At this point, I just decide to go to Radio Shack and get a few new chargers. Well, guess what folks - Radio Shack is going out of business! Their walls are pretty barren. No wall chargers left. However, lo and behold, they have one more car charger left- the same crappy make and model that just fell apart in the car on me! But, what choice do I have? I need to connect to the outside world! I felt like I was in a deprivation chamber!!! So right now, I'm sitting here in Starbucks with my partially charged phone and my laptop plugged into their outlet, using their internet. Whew!!! Is technology really all it's cracked up to be? I mean, we have become so dependent on it that when it fails us, it feels like the end of the world!!! Well, at least I do! lol On that note, peeps, I'm going to get going, grab myself a nice non-fat, no-whip hot chocolate and head on home!! Have a wonderful day!!! -E xoxo | Tanya's Daily ScoopOn the Road AgainGreeting from Kingman, Arizona! I'm here on the old but famous Route 66! Probably not exactly too many persons vacation destination! Not mine either, but it was a good stopping point for our drive that began last evening... After a full day of to do's and one of those being taking the kiddos to go see the much anticipated Superhero Movie The Avengers: Age of Ultron It was the kids, Dave C, and myself catching an early matinee, and I do believe that we all really enjoyed it! After checking my list over for the last time, it was time to go... But first I still needed a mani/pedi! I opted for French this time around (I barely ever get a French - in fact the last time was almost 3 years ago!) and not only did I get a French mani, I tried a French pedi too! It just doesn't look like me AT ALL! I look at my toes and they feel foreign! Hope I get use to this...at least until my next appointment!!! And then we were finally off! Well let's just say that we got off to a rocky start. Dave was running late. The salon was waaaay behind schedule. Had to go here, had to go there. Cosette didn't want me to leave. My poor kiddo. This trip was originally planned for the four or us, now there are only two. Cosette backed out a while ago, since she doesn't much care for cycling and she knew that this was gonna be tougher than anything she's ever experienced on a bike. She opted to stay home to save herself from the efforts and to save me from having a miserable time if she were to be complaining. I'm not a fan of complaints. Bring it to another department. I give her kudos for being so mature and I let both these kids make a lot of their own decisions. This was her decision not to come. So when she's telling me that she doesn't want me to leave, I have no choice be to remind her that this was her choice and that if she doesn't want to be without me and carries on, that I will have to override her decision and force her to come along. Isn't it kinda funny? When most parents would be forcing a kid not to come. I had to suggest that I force mine on a vacation! Smh (shaking my head). Anyhoo...both she and Dominic said their good byes - they'll be in good company with the entire rest of the household and they'll be taking a vacation from my vacations! Haha And off we went, with one outbound stop already having be moved off of the list because we'd never make it before they closed. The timing on the second outbound stop (picking up dinner) was getting mighty tight. All the Las Vegas traffic trying to get out of town was worse than ever - guess they're all going to the BIG FIGHT (Mayweather and Pacquiao). We were further and further off schedule. Luckily I didn't have a very strict schedule for last night, because we were only heading to Kingman. What it meant however if we were much further behind schedule was the possibility of no dinner and loss of sleep. As much as I wouldn't want to deal with either scenario, I could handle both. Dave was a nervous wreck (which isn't too far off of his norm), and although I grabbed my CDs, I happened to ask about his (which are some of my road trip favs)...he then set me off.... He forgot the CDs - but this wasn't the issue. The issue was that he had the audacity to tell me that they weren't on his radar! I might've actually believed him, IF he hadn't been asking me about the CDs a couple of days ago! Lies! I may not always like the truth, but I could handle the truth. A lie, I can and will only handle one way and it'll never be GOOD! So we drove in silence, racing for dinner. Calling in our order and making it there in just the nick of time! We ate on the road and we drove and drove and drove! And that was my night! Heading out now to have brunch in Flagstaff, pick up a few need items, and then over to Page, Arizona to go see the AMAZING Antelope Canyon! You may not realize it now, but you can't wait to see the pictures!! Until tomorrow my friends, -T PS Sorry for the late posting of FOODIE FRIDAY - Read it HERE |
