Hey Folks, this is a very, very short one!!

I didn't anticipate having no wifi today as we are headed out to the barn again today.

Last night, I literally passed out after cooking and doing laundry and woke up with barely any time to spare to write my blog - apologies!!!

BUT... Tanya has filled us in with lots of information about her day in Barcelona yesterday!!

So, read up - I assure you, you will enjoy it!!

CURRENTLY TRAVELING IN: BARCELONA

Barcelona is Gaudi GALORE!

Hola & GREETINGS once again from the very beautiful city of Barcelona!

As you can see, we are on Day 10 of this amazing trip  - seeing and doing so much that you'd think (and the kids + Dave already do feel like) we've already been traveling for weeks!

I knew pretty much from the get go that this was a city that would require a return trip, and each day of wandering has only confirmed those initial feelings.

Yesterday was all about Gaudi - as everyday here in Barcelona could actually be! 

There are seven works of Gaudí here in or near the city of Barcelona that are designated UNESCO World Heritage sites.
And In my opinion for very good reason!
These sites include Park Güell, Palau Güell, Casa Milà, Casa Vicens, La Sagrada Familia, Casa Batlló, and the crypt in Colonia Güell.

When Gaudi was graduating from the Barcelona School of Architecture, the Dean said,
“I am not sure to whom I presented a diploma today, to a madman or to a genius.” 

I'd like to think it is the later - for he was a man before his time. He provided architectural solutions based on shapes that he observed in nature. I consider ourselves are so fortunate in being able to appreciate his visions/masterpieces that have come to life and that are currently still in the works...

Speaking of which:
La Sagrada is in it’s final stage of construction after 133 years!
The cathedral will be complete 100 years after Gaudi’s death - if it stays on schedule!

Then you have other examples of his work, such as Park Guell:

Gaudi really put his stamp on this city. 
And with each piece of his work being quite unique and really just so fascinating...

But also with each site requiring timed tickets. These sites certainly draw crowds, and this is in no way anywhere even close to what the crowds could be like...say in the summer - I could not even imagine what this city would look like in the high season!
​If you really want ​to get to know a city or any location for that matter, you really must try to do whatever you can to visit in the shoulder seasons.
​Flexibility is KEY!!
